I began my working career as a reluctant potato peeler whilst waiting to commence my training as a student nurse. On completion I worked mainly in intensive care/coronary care; finishing my hospital career as clinical nurse educator in intensive care. A life changing period as a resort owner/manager on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu was followed by recovery time as a farmer at Bucca Wauka. Having discovered I was no farmer and vowing never again to own an animal bigger than myself I took on the Barrington General Store. Here we also ran a five star restaurant. Working the shop of a day 7am - 6pm followed by the restaurant until late was surprisingly more stressful than Tanna. On the sale we decided to retire and renovate our house with the help of a builder friend. Now believing we knew everything about building we set to constructing our own house. Just finished a coal mine decided to set up in our backyard. Definitely time to retire we moved to Queensland. I had been writing a manuscript for some time. In the desire to complete this I enrolled in a post grad certificate in creative Industries which I completed 2013. I followed this by doing a Master of Arts by research graduating in 2017. Now I live to write and write to live.

Dare to Dream : A book Review
The cover of this hard back version of Katherine Sinclair’s Dare to Dream does not do the book justice. If I was someone who purchased on cover alone I would have thought I was letting myself in to a romantic … Continue reading
R.I.P. Zacky – my faithful friend
This morning Zack had a large bleed and we had no choice but to say goodbye to our dear friend. Zack came to us as an older dog (6) with a myriad of problems. He’d had a lovely younger life … Continue reading
Cee’s Odd Ball Challenge: River antics and a curved horizon
I’d seen a go-pro camera with its underwater casing and I deeply craved to have one of my own. Not to be. Instead Aldi came to the rescue with their own $49 version and these are some of my first … Continue reading
Cee’s Odd Ball Challenge: The boys in their underpants
Gone are Zac’s debonair wolf-like looks and Bundy’s hippy locks. Coiffed and pampered returning with Christmas scarves. Zac asked for his to be removed immediately. Bad enough, he intimated, to be seen in public almost naked let alone wearing a Christmas … Continue reading

The Bully?
We brought Bundy, our cocker spaniel, into the family about 3 months ago now in the hope that he might bring back a bit of zing into Zac, our old German Shepherd Dog. It has worked fantastically well and certainly … Continue reading
Weekly Writing Challenge: Blog your block
Seventy-nine steps to freedom. In that seventy-nine steps I stop for a dig in the garden. It’s my garden so although my owners ask me not to do it I do it anyway, spraying dirt everywhere. Then I walk quickly … Continue reading
Phoneography Photo Challenge: The German Shepherd Dog convention.
Zac was lonely. It was as though dog owners in our town had all left, or knew something about the dog park that we didn’t. It seemed that everyone had deserted the park for the last two weeks. Zac was getting … Continue reading
MBPOTW: Week 22 – Unexpected
This was my best photo of the week because it had all my favourite elements in it. Firstly there is my tranquil section of the river. I am happier without the boat as it makes the river look busier. It … Continue reading
Weekly writing Challenge: Lunch Posts Day 2
Time 1400 Oppressively hot, muggy. Don’t envy Rod playing golf. Hope it is only the heat affecting Zach. He’s not right today. It’s as though he doesn’t quite know where he is and what he’s supposed to do now that he … Continue reading
