I began my working career as a reluctant potato peeler whilst waiting to commence my training as a student nurse. On completion I worked mainly in intensive care/coronary care; finishing my hospital career as clinical nurse educator in intensive care. A life changing period as a resort owner/manager on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu was followed by recovery time as a farmer at Bucca Wauka. Having discovered I was no farmer and vowing never again to own an animal bigger than myself I took on the Barrington General Store. Here we also ran a five star restaurant. Working the shop of a day 7am - 6pm followed by the restaurant until late was surprisingly more stressful than Tanna. On the sale we decided to retire and renovate our house with the help of a builder friend. Now believing we knew everything about building we set to constructing our own house. Just finished a coal mine decided to set up in our backyard. Definitely time to retire we moved to Queensland. I had been writing a manuscript for some time. In the desire to complete this I enrolled in a post grad certificate in creative Industries which I completed 2013. I followed this by doing a Master of Arts by research graduating in 2017. Now I live to write and write to live.

Windows: Cee’s Fun foto Challenge
Windows, whilst offering protection from the elements, allows those inside to see out, to look at the view that towers above or is down below. Whether stationary, or travelling in auto or boat. Some windows require protection themselves with … Continue reading
Framed: Cee’s Odd Ball Challenge
I found this structure a little odd But it made a great frame for a scene at Mooloolabah. In response to Cee’s Odd Ball Challenge
A lingering look at Windows wk 49: Danger lurks at the Te Papa
The Te Papa museum in Wellington lived up to its reputation as being a fantastic natural history and every other thing museum. We had missed it on our previous visits to Wellington and I’m glad I had the opportunity of … Continue reading
A Lingering Look at Windows: Somewhere in France
I’d linger to look at these windows any day. Not just the windows but the buildings nestled in the cliffs using the cliffs as the rear wall and part of the roof. I had written on the photos that this town … Continue reading
A Lingering Look at Windows Week 16: Gruyeres
On a visit to my brother in Switzerland he suggested we hire a car as the plan to go out to dinner that night would create some logistic problems with transport. It would be cheaper to hire a car than … Continue reading
A Lingering Look at Windows: Lingering longer in Eguisheim
We came across Eguisheim quite by accident. The way we travel is unplanned. We decide a direction we wish to travel and using the byways instead of the highways we make our way there, avoiding the large towns and the … Continue reading
