(6 photographs) At ancient temples calm faces look serene, the atmosphere is one of serenity

But as I look out my hall windows I see that serenity is not limited to the ancients

and can be achieved by even the very young but for me

Climbing a mountain (hill for anyone who doesn’t live in Australia) and taking in the view

About Irene Waters 19 Writer Memoirist
I began my working career as a reluctant potato peeler whilst waiting to commence my training as a student nurse. On completion I worked mainly in intensive care/coronary care; finishing my hospital career as clinical nurse educator in intensive care. A life changing period as a resort owner/manager on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu was followed by recovery time as a farmer at Bucca Wauka. Having discovered I was no farmer and vowing never again to own an animal bigger than myself I took on the Barrington General Store. Here we also ran a five star restaurant. Working the shop of a day 7am - 6pm followed by the restaurant until late was surprisingly more stressful than Tanna. On the sale we decided to retire and renovate our house with the help of a builder friend. Now believing we knew everything about building we set to constructing our own house. Just finished a coal mine decided to set up in our backyard. Definitely time to retire we moved to Queensland. I had been writing a manuscript for some time. In the desire to complete this I enrolled in a post grad certificate in creative Industries which I completed 2013. I followed this by doing a Master of Arts by research graduating in 2017. Now I live to write and write to live.
Lovely photos, especially of the mountain top.

Wonderful photographic interpretation of serenity! I particularly liked the smiling face in the first one – where was that taken and was it a Bhudda?

Thanks Noelle. It was taken at one of the temples around Angkor Wat and I think it is Buddah. I haven’t been able to locate my book which gives me all the details of the temples but I will let you know for sure when I find it. It’s great though.

I’m with you on where to find serenity. Just step outside and the higher up, the better! But that boy in his meditative state is fascinating. Somewhere there is an equally serene parent! 🙂

Being on top of the world is a great place to be but if not, being oblivious to it and being in a nice place like the child would be a great place to be. “Serenity Now!”

I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a serene child at the playground 😉 Love your take on the challenge Irene.
