I began my working career as a reluctant potato peeler whilst waiting to commence my training as a student nurse. On completion I worked mainly in intensive care/coronary care; finishing my hospital career as clinical nurse educator in intensive care. A life changing period as a resort owner/manager on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu was followed by recovery time as a farmer at Bucca Wauka. Having discovered I was no farmer and vowing never again to own an animal bigger than myself I took on the Barrington General Store. Here we also ran a five star restaurant. Working the shop of a day 7am - 6pm followed by the restaurant until late was surprisingly more stressful than Tanna. On the sale we decided to retire and renovate our house with the help of a builder friend. Now believing we knew everything about building we set to constructing our own house. Just finished a coal mine decided to set up in our backyard. Definitely time to retire we moved to Queensland. I had been writing a manuscript for some time. In the desire to complete this I enrolled in a post grad certificate in creative Industries which I completed 2013. I followed this by doing a Master of Arts by research graduating in 2017. Now I live to write and write to live.

Roundabout mayhem: Cee’s Which Way Challenge
Noosa has over 100 roundabouts with many being multi laned and one set of traffic lights. I love them but then I know where I am going. The direction “All other Destinations” is fine until you find yourself totally lost. … Continue reading
Way: Thursday’s Special
When on the sea sometimes the only way you’ll find the safe way is with the help of a pilot. There are few directional signs in Papua New Guinea. I don’t think they are needed. People know where they are … Continue reading

The finger: Cee’s Which Way Challenge
Taken predominantly for the castle but Spital caused me a smile and the finger….. I guess the finger doesn’t quite have the same meaning as it does here or perhaps I don’t understand the lingo. For Cee’s Which Way Challenge
Signage: Tuesday Photo Challenge
I wonder how many people have noticed what the sign says. In response to Jan’s Tuesday Photo Challenge
Signs: Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge
Signs are to let you know to keep things clean or to prevent an injury. Somes signs advertise and are moveable whilst others advertise but are stationary. Some signs brook no disobeying whilst others warn to watch out whilst others … Continue reading
Weekly Photo Challenge: Signs at Jaspers
(15 photos) Every morning we walk our dogs. It would be impossible to miss this morning tradition as the dogs both give us clear signs, mainly vocal, that it is time to go. Depending on the signs that our old … Continue reading
Weekly Photo Challenge: Letters
Letters on signs are a record that you did make it this far and crossed the state line or appealing posters plastered around advertising an event (I think) or be reminiscent of, in this case, the song Edelweiss from Sound of … Continue reading
