I began my working career as a reluctant potato peeler whilst waiting to commence my training as a student nurse. On completion I worked mainly in intensive care/coronary care; finishing my hospital career as clinical nurse educator in intensive care. A life changing period as a resort owner/manager on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu was followed by recovery time as a farmer at Bucca Wauka. Having discovered I was no farmer and vowing never again to own an animal bigger than myself I took on the Barrington General Store. Here we also ran a five star restaurant. Working the shop of a day 7am - 6pm followed by the restaurant until late was surprisingly more stressful than Tanna. On the sale we decided to retire and renovate our house with the help of a builder friend. Now believing we knew everything about building we set to constructing our own house. Just finished a coal mine decided to set up in our backyard. Definitely time to retire we moved to Queensland. I had been writing a manuscript for some time. In the desire to complete this I enrolled in a post grad certificate in creative Industries which I completed 2013. I followed this by doing a Master of Arts by research graduating in 2017. Now I live to write and write to live.

Cee’s Odd Ball Challenge: The boys in their underpants
Gone are Zac’s debonair wolf-like looks and Bundy’s hippy locks. Coiffed and pampered returning with Christmas scarves. Zac asked for his to be removed immediately. Bad enough, he intimated, to be seen in public almost naked let alone wearing a Christmas … Continue reading
Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Fire or Summer
“The animal merely makes a bed, which he warms with his body in a sheltered place; but man, having discovered fire, boxes up some air in a spacious apartment, and warms that, instead of robbing himself, makes that his bed, … Continue reading
The Bully?
We brought Bundy, our cocker spaniel, into the family about 3 months ago now in the hope that he might bring back a bit of zing into Zac, our old German Shepherd Dog. It has worked fantastically well and certainly … Continue reading

Trog and other Animals: Jerry and the cat attack
I took off on my usual route down Skye Road. I let the dogs off the lead as soon as we reached the school as from this point on the traffic was non-existent with only a few houses on … Continue reading
Trog and Other Animals: Home from Hospital
Jerry’s partial destruction of the fence meant the dogs were locked inside until it could be repaired. This didn’t worry them unduly as they tended to lie about where they could smell or see me and only if I was doing … Continue reading
