Yellow is the colour of the sun, it brightens the day in so many ways.

In Disney Land yellow is evident and this reflects in the smiles on the faces of the crowd. No-one visiting has come for a bad time but to join in, submerging in the yellow submarines, and joining in the Grand Parade. My highlight for the day was doing a jive in the street with Dick Tracy. I felt like I was on a movie set as the street cleared and a ring of people surrounded us to watch, but he does not fit the challenge as he wasn’t wearing yellow.

High on a hill without the lonely goat-herd a sunny yellow umbrella added bright colour to the magnificent vista we had to look at whilst we sipped on our orange juices.

In other places such as Isola Bella in Lake Maggiore yellow is protective against the gentle rain that fell.

Yellow is also the colour of my original mock cover for my manuscript and my final photographs is purely indulgence on my part. This little worm visited me at Jaspers, my breakfast bakery one morning. This gallery if you click on the first photo then click through quickly, as quickly as the scroller will allow and still give clarity, you too will have the pleasure of his movement.

The Axe Attack

For Throwback Thursday I am reblogging the axe attack. My brother’s response is in the comments section.

My brother and I had been fighting for days, over what exactly I can’t remember, but it would be over something that I wanted that he wouldn’t let me have. I screamed at him whilst he taunted me. We had moved from the backyard into the garage. My Dad must have been out as the car was not there. My rage was building to a point where I felt I was going to  explode. My face felt hot and red, then suddenly, blood draining away a white rage took over. I picked up the axe which was lying against the garage wall, raised it as far as my seven-year old strength would allow me and brought it down on my brother’s toe.

Blood gushed in volumes from the wound. My brother screamed “You’ve cut my toe off.” My mother came running and bundled her beloved son in her arms and carried…

“Get up Randolf. Time for school.” Phaedra watched her son stir before going downstairs.

“Remind me why we sent Randolf to this school?” Her husband frowned as he looked over their son’s report card.

“We wanted to give him a good start in life. We thought…… Unicorn school would teach him how to properly channel his special powers. We wanted him to be an angel.”

“Instead we’ve paid a fortune for the privilege of seeing him as an angel only if he gets chosen for the part in the Christmas play. They’ve created a unicorn with attitude and gun.

Shadow Shot Sunday: Park bench shadows

There should be laughter

of children running and playing

picnic banter, gingham cloths

wicker baskets brimming full

of wine and cheese. Crusty bread too.

Images of summer.

Instead

empty picnic benches

their only companions

their very own shadows.
