Whilst further up with serene patience for the time to turn, releasing the cuckoo to sing the hour.

About Irene Waters 19 Writer Memoirist
I began my working career as a reluctant potato peeler whilst waiting to commence my training as a student nurse. On completion I worked mainly in intensive care/coronary care; finishing my hospital career as clinical nurse educator in intensive care. A life changing period as a resort owner/manager on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu was followed by recovery time as a farmer at Bucca Wauka. Having discovered I was no farmer and vowing never again to own an animal bigger than myself I took on the Barrington General Store. Here we also ran a five star restaurant. Working the shop of a day 7am - 6pm followed by the restaurant until late was surprisingly more stressful than Tanna. On the sale we decided to retire and renovate our house with the help of a builder friend. Now believing we knew everything about building we set to constructing our own house. Just finished a coal mine decided to set up in our backyard. Definitely time to retire we moved to Queensland. I had been writing a manuscript for some time. In the desire to complete this I enrolled in a post grad certificate in creative Industries which I completed 2013. I followed this by doing a Master of Arts by research graduating in 2017. Now I live to write and write to live.
I love the creativity of your different views and I can even hear some sort of cuckoo sounds – ha!

I can believe that as I can hear our cuckoo clock from around the corner when I take the dogs for their last walk at night. I’m surprised the neighbours haven’t complained.

Oh wow – how fun….. and maybe the neighbors just enjoy the sound – like I am sure they enjoy your sweet presence around there…..

Such a very unique perspective. I figured it out from the first photo before seeing the rest, but I had to stare at it for a few moments. You’re really challenging me with these photos but I like them.

Great. Glad you like them. You can tell I’m running out of novel ideas if I have to lie under the cuckoo clock.

Now I’m laughing so hard, I’ve fallen out of my chair. But I really needed to laugh, so thank you.

Really glad to give you a laugh when you need it. By the way I loved your piece about your parent’s truth and their stories. I will get back to comment. Now that I’m not studying I don’t have the excuse of work to keep me in front of the computer (whilst secretly writing comments) and my time is being demanded elsewhere. But I will be back.
