There seems to be a glitch this week with posting the prompt but guessing harmony is this weeks challenge. “The quality of forming a pleasing and consistent whole.” Brisbane’s South Bank does this for me.

I began my working career as a reluctant potato peeler whilst waiting to commence my training as a student nurse. On completion I worked mainly in intensive care/coronary care; finishing my hospital career as clinical nurse educator in intensive care. A life changing period as a resort owner/manager on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu was followed by recovery time as a farmer at Bucca Wauka. Having discovered I was no farmer and vowing never again to own an animal bigger than myself I took on the Barrington General Store. Here we also ran a five star restaurant. Working the shop of a day 7am - 6pm followed by the restaurant until late was surprisingly more stressful than Tanna. On the sale we decided to retire and renovate our house with the help of a builder friend. Now believing we knew everything about building we set to constructing our own house. Just finished a coal mine decided to set up in our backyard. Definitely time to retire we moved to Queensland. I had been writing a manuscript for some time. In the desire to complete this I enrolled in a post grad certificate in creative Industries which I completed 2013. I followed this by doing a Master of Arts by research graduating in 2017. Now I live to write and write to live.

I recognize your photos this week, we were right there last year. Very harmonious images.

Thanks. Yes it is a very harmonious city where lifestyle is still something to be fitted into the hustle and bustle. Hope you enjoyed your Queensland trip.

We had a lovely time in Qld, our car was having work done on it in Brisbane so we stayed the week in Scarborough and thought it was great. Most of our time though was spent far from cities.

You sound like us. We avoid cities when we are travelling and rarely see the tourist hotspots but we get to experience another side of life seldom seen by visitors. Glad you enjoyed Brisbane. We are new to Brisbane ourselves (as our closest city) and in the four years we have been here we probably visit twice a year on average.

More and more often I find cities overwhelming but the gardens in Brisbane were a lovely refuge.

Thanks Miriam. A swim at lunchtime must make you feel like you are on holidays despite being at work.

Most definitely. Great way to spend lunch time!

A beach in the middle of high rises – that’s harmony in a New Age band.

Absolutely. Wouldn’t you have loved going to work , sit on the beach at lunchtime with perhaps a quick dip and soak in the city ambience. Sounds like harmony to me also.

The fourth picture is amazingly beautiful. I believe the vines are bougainvillea. Could be wrong. I love the way the plant is intertwined harmoniously throughout the archway!

You are right Diane. I have watched this vine grow from almost tube stock and each year it gets bigger and more beautiful. The design is perfect for giving shade on the walkway and somehow they have worked out how to keep those lethal thorns from harming anyone.

It looks like a lovely area. I’ve always been fascinated with scenes from Australia. I guess it’s the “romance from far away places” that beckons to me. But your images are probably as close as I will ever get!

I love seeing photos from other parts also. It doesn’t hurt to dream and who knows……

I particularly enjoyed that last shot, Irene. Beautiful flowers and lovely shapes.

Thanks Janet. It is quite spectacular the bougainvillea growing on its structure. Cheers Irene

Really unusual inner city photos. The beach does look inviting.

A city where lifestyle is as important as economy. It is inviting.

What a beautiful – and yes, harmonious – inner city this Irene. Perfect for the challenge. I feel serene and happy just by admiring your lovely photos… Wish I could be there right about now, visiting you… ❤

Perhaps one day Sherri. They have done an incredible job making it a city for people to have a lifestyle as well as an income or place to shop.
