OMG, when this popped up in my email and I read the title, I thought it was about cooking, but what the heck is looking to cook straight? As in, maybe not being stoned when making sauce? Then when I saw the photo, I thought, well, it’s pretty hard to cook anything on a boat, everything sloshing around. And then I realized I can’t do that anyway, I get so seasick on small boats and spend most of the time leaning over the rails. And then, oh! I get it now – sailing into Cook Straight. While looking at it. Though you might believe me to be totally stoned with this story.

It’s not you who must be stoned but me – I spelt straight straight when in reality it was strait. No wonder you didn’t get it straight away. And I loved your comment so much – gave me a big smile.

I wish (no actually I don’t).[grin] I am on the boat of a school friend who lived in the most isolated reaches of the Pelorus Sound, accessible only by boat. They live in a tiny cottage with no grid electricity, and are self-sufficient in veggies and fruit. Also in fish and we were lucky enough that they had to restock their fridge whilst we were there.. Good to see you back. I miss you and hope one day you will be back on air. If you are tell me here. I never look at emails. [gives self rap over knuckles]

WUNDERBAR ! Although we spent 8 years on an island, it was fully powered. Couldn’t have done it, otherwise. I think your friends must have been younger than we when they settled there.

They were in their fifties. They were just a bit mad and loved beautiful places.
