Humans are the same the world over. We all have our hopes and dreams, our joy and despair. Sadly many people just see the differences. The only difference I see is in the poverty and wealth, the possibilities. Lets embrace our sameness and accept each other. We are all people.

I began my working career as a reluctant potato peeler whilst waiting to commence my training as a student nurse. On completion I worked mainly in intensive care/coronary care; finishing my hospital career as clinical nurse educator in intensive care. A life changing period as a resort owner/manager on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu was followed by recovery time as a farmer at Bucca Wauka. Having discovered I was no farmer and vowing never again to own an animal bigger than myself I took on the Barrington General Store. Here we also ran a five star restaurant. Working the shop of a day 7am - 6pm followed by the restaurant until late was surprisingly more stressful than Tanna. On the sale we decided to retire and renovate our house with the help of a builder friend. Now believing we knew everything about building we set to constructing our own house. Just finished a coal mine decided to set up in our backyard. Definitely time to retire we moved to Queensland. I had been writing a manuscript for some time. In the desire to complete this I enrolled in a post grad certificate in creative Industries which I completed 2013. I followed this by doing a Master of Arts by research graduating in 2017. Now I live to write and write to live.

Terrific, Irene ! – and an excellent opp. for you to pull out shots from at least some of the many places you’ve visited.

Thanks M-R. Yes and I really wanted to show that we all are the same (though sadly with different levels of opportunity and services).

We are all one, if only we all felt this way! Lovely piece and enjoyed your photographs!

Thanks Barbara. It is something I am passionate about and truly wish that our govt and our media would stop feeding fear to people and instead foster harmony and peace amongst all beings. Yes we are all one.

A powerful and beautiful message and medley of photographs here Irene. Your ‘humanity’ towards others shines through my friend ❤

Thanks Sherri. At the moment my humanity is running at a low ebb. The football ground at the end of the dog park which is opposite our place is the site of a music festival and as the night goes on the deep boom is becoming louder and more frenzied. I suppose I liked it when I was younger – I wonder. Have a great weekend my friend. ❤

Oh no! I hope it’s only for one night…I think that kind of music is only good if you are actually there enjoying it but for the neighbours it’s so annoying…and loud 😦
Thanks Irene, you too and I really hope things return to normal soon and you can enjoy your weekend… ❤
