I began my working career as a reluctant potato peeler whilst waiting to commence my training as a student nurse. On completion I worked mainly in intensive care/coronary care; finishing my hospital career as clinical nurse educator in intensive care. A life changing period as a resort owner/manager on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu was followed by recovery time as a farmer at Bucca Wauka. Having discovered I was no farmer and vowing never again to own an animal bigger than myself I took on the Barrington General Store. Here we also ran a five star restaurant. Working the shop of a day 7am - 6pm followed by the restaurant until late was surprisingly more stressful than Tanna. On the sale we decided to retire and renovate our house with the help of a builder friend. Now believing we knew everything about building we set to constructing our own house. Just finished a coal mine decided to set up in our backyard. Definitely time to retire we moved to Queensland. I had been writing a manuscript for some time. In the desire to complete this I enrolled in a post grad certificate in creative Industries which I completed 2013. I followed this by doing a Master of Arts by research graduating in 2017. Now I live to write and write to live.

Ornate Family Heirloom: Weekly Photo Challenge
I rarely (this is probably the first time) that I have posted two entries in a challenge. I don’t know why I thought of it. Possibly a combination of a post about prime minister Curtin which made me think of … Continue reading
Cee’s Odd Ball Challenge: City Skyline
Architecture is so varied in the landscape — much of it is odd ball. I love the angles, the curves, the reflections and the incongruity between new and old, soft and hard. In response to Cee’s Odd Ball Challenge .
Weekly Photo Challenge: Early birding – a stroll in Sydney
I woke at 4am as is normal for me and by 5 was itching to get out and walk. Being a country girl I was fascinated by the tall buildings and the early morning light that reached in between them. … Continue reading
Thursday’s Special: Water in Sydney City
Water is an important part of the city of Sydney’s landscape. It can be small — one of numerous small ponds and fountains to be found around the city’s walkways. Or it could be one of the larger although still … Continue reading

Cee’s Odd Ball Photo: Odd Balls around the Sydney Botanical Gardens
I’m not showing much garden in these odd ball photos. I was taken with the oddity of what looked at first sight to be a Red Indian woman’s face sitting in the middle of the harbour. It was situated perfectly … Continue reading
Shadow Shot Sunday 2: State Library of NSW (Mitchell Wing) and its muted shadows
On entering the library the shadows become muted as does the conversation. A reverent hush descends Β on those that walk the halls of the library (founded 1826) moved to this location as it could no longer house the growing collection. … Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenge: Afloat
During my trip to Sydney this week I met a friend in China Town. Naturally I was early. I had walked to get there and not remembering how long it would take me or where it was exactly I left … Continue reading
