Cee’s Odd Ball Photo: A question mark

(4 photos) I found these on the kitchen bench the other day. I had no idea what they were. They appeared to me to be disjointed bird legs. I was unimpressed. Bundy is certainly a dog who by nature retrieves birds. Will catch them in midflight in fact but she has a soft mouth and has never hurt them. Not so much as left a mark on them. So what were these things with claws?  Do you know?

Bundy still has this bird – totally undamaged.

99 Word Flash Fiction: In the moment

Griselda bent double, clutching her side under the jet of hot water. It was bad this time and different. Her skin, it felt, was separating from her fat and into the space created a multitude of spiders tunnelled, constructing multiple channels inside her. An agonised moan escaped. Sinking to the floor she crawled to the bath, filling it with hot water then, with difficulty, she lowered herself in. The spiders, not appreciating the heat, joined forces and performed a war dance in her body.

“Help” she screamed, no longer caring if she woke those sleeping. “Get an ambulance.”

This week Charli asks us to:

” let our stories be. January 7, 2015 prompt: In 99 words (no more, no less) write a story that describes a moment of being. It can be practical, such as what it’s like to be a traveler on a crowded plane or a working parent trying to get breakfast served. It can be reflective, such as what it’s like to experience prejudice or a pilgrimage. It can be silly, scary or surreal.

Respond by January 13, 2015 to be included in the weekly compilation. Rules are here.”

The shadow here just wrecks what may have been a good photo from the long ago past.

Friday Fictioneers : Route 66

How dare John die leaving a cryptic note;  “Read On the Road, play the jazz king, unthink and begin. It’s under your nose.”

Arriving in Illinois at the start of Route 66  she knew it was the right place on seeing the signs ‘begin’ and  ‘unthink’. She looked down seeing nothing on the pavement and no clue from the old building dwarfed by the  skyscraper.

She’d kill him if he wasn’t already dead. What was the message’s meaning. Suddenly she understood. Under her nose was her pregnant belly.  She was to live, travel the mother road taking her kicks as they came.

Holidays at Grandma’s House – television

Throwback Thursday I revisit posts from the archives – the early days of blogging . We were talking about the early days of television the other night and both my brother and I remember our delight at the first colour set we saw. My husband goes back even further in the history of television and recounted his friends set where a magnifying lens was placed in front of the screen to enlarge the picture. https://irenewaters19.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/1950-duotone-lens-ad.jpghttp://www.tvhistory.tv/1950-Duotone-lens-Ad.jpg

My Grandmother and Grandfather and aunt lived in Caroline Street Kingsgrove. My Grandma was a very stern looking woman and had lots of rules and regulations. Before our visit she covered the lounge with sheets. I could never understand why she did this as my brother and I were not permitted to go into the lounge-room  except to watch television  for an hour before dinner, and then we had to sit on the floor, as still and as quiet as mice.

We didn’t have a television until 1967 so to watch the Three Stooges, Father Knows Best, Woody Woodpecker and Felix the Cat was a real treat. Apparently, the first time I saw television, my mother was appearing on a quiz programme. I cried out to her and ran around to the back of the television to join her, crying when I couldn’t get into the box. I’m not sure…
