I began my working career as a reluctant potato peeler whilst waiting to commence my training as a student nurse. On completion I worked mainly in intensive care/coronary care; finishing my hospital career as clinical nurse educator in intensive care. A life changing period as a resort owner/manager on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu was followed by recovery time as a farmer at Bucca Wauka. Having discovered I was no farmer and vowing never again to own an animal bigger than myself I took on the Barrington General Store. Here we also ran a five star restaurant. Working the shop of a day 7am - 6pm followed by the restaurant until late was surprisingly more stressful than Tanna. On the sale we decided to retire and renovate our house with the help of a builder friend. Now believing we knew everything about building we set to constructing our own house. Just finished a coal mine decided to set up in our backyard. Definitely time to retire we moved to Queensland. I had been writing a manuscript for some time. In the desire to complete this I enrolled in a post grad certificate in creative Industries which I completed 2013. I followed this by doing a Master of Arts by research graduating in 2017. Now I live to write and write to live.

Cee’s Odd Ball Challenge: Is it Jack’s beanstalk?
What was odd about this odd ball was there didn’t seem to be any reason why the arm had been extended up, way up, into the air. All I could think was Jack. In response to Cee’s Odd Ball Photo Challenge

Cee’s Odd Ball Challenge: Unrelated odd balls
Bringing the outside in. In my makeshift room for doing my uni work Bundy likes to hide in behind the bookcase. He is an odd ball. A new meaning to red carpet. Simply odd but the photo below will explain … Continue reading
Cee’s Odd Ball Challenge: Still Waiting
Wandering Ann Street in Brisbane City I came across a few odd balls such as this fellow waiting to cross at the lights. I didn’t notice the building in the centre of the frame until I looked at the photograph. … Continue reading
Cee’s Odd Ball Challenge:
There were steeples on churches for two reasons. Architecturally it creates more pleasing lines making the building more appear more graceful. The other reason, and probably the main reason is to put the congregation in a heavenly frame of mind. … Continue reading
Cee’s Odd Ball Challenge: The colours of the fair
This was the one I would have liked to play on. The bucking bronco looked like fun. In response to Cee’s Odd Ball Challenge
Cee’s Odd Ball Photos: Recycled Milk Bottles
What a wonderful use for old plastic milk bottles. I don’t know who made them (they had a lot more patience than I am endowed with) but they were an extremely effective decoration. I particularly liked the milk bottle fascinator … Continue reading
Cee’s Odd Ball Photo Challenge: Pruning
This painting was lifesize and realistic. If the other gallery paintings had not reflected on it I would have loved it but as it is it is delegated to being an odd ball. In response to Cee’s Odd Ball Challenge.
Cee’s Odd Ball Challenge: Eye balls
The all seeing eyes outside the law courts in Brisbane. For Cee’s Odd Ball Challenge
Cee’s Odd Ball Photo: Mother of Pearl
I loved the way the sun catching the creamy white tiles showed their origin as being mother of pearl. A psychedelic world. An odd ball world. In response to Cee’s Odd Ball Challenge
