but on Wednesday 1st November a cloud of smoke appeared. The fire was burning bushland very close to habited areas but luckily it was contained fairly quickly but kept burning within its containment lines way after sunset.

It’s always scary when you can see the smoke and I’m sure you could smell it too.

Yes it is scary. Lucky for us the wind was blowing the other way and we didn’t get any smoke where we live and I didn’t smell it either but I bet a little closer would certainly have smelt it.

The only fire I have been involved in personally was what the locals called a cool fire. It made me determined to never experience a warm fire and wildfires I think would be top of the list of scariness.
