You get the impression that if it doesn’t stay rooted it will just slide down and set up home a little lower where perhaps the roots can get more purchase.

I can’t entirely claim credit Sharon. There was a grammar book written called Eats Shoots and Leaves. Demonstration of why commas are essential. I’ve never forgotten the name and I probably just did a bit of modification to suit the occasion.
