Welcome and come on in. I’m glad you’ve come because it gives me a rest from packing. Yes, the cardboard boxes are out and I’m working away in earnest. The removalists have allowed me 30 boxes. I think that should be enough but I know we will be doing a few trips with the loose stuff that just won’t fit in a box; things like table lamps.
If we were having coffee I’d tell you that I have resubmitted my work. Now the long wait until I know the outcome. Last time it was 5 months. Hopefully this time it will be no more than 3 but I am not going to give it another thought from this moment on. There is too much else to think about.
If we were having coffee I’d tell you this coming week is a busy one. It is Roger’s birthday on Wednesday and mine on Saturday. I have to have the packing finished by next Sunday. We are going out for a romantic birthday dinner on the Thursday night and out for lunch on the Friday to my favourite spot at Cotton tree.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that Roger sold his car this yesterday. I was relieved as we no longer have garaging for three cars and it is too expensive to keep them all registered. For him though it was letting go of his youth. He loved the car and it never missed a beat. He liked its throaty hum and the wind whistling through his hair. He hated the fact that he had to sell it for less than we ended up buying a big new bed. He knew he loved the car more than he will ever love the bed. These endings as you get older are unfortunately a necessity.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you I have nothing else to tell you. Our weather has been threatening to storm and the only time it succeeded was when we weren’t expecting it. Then it was a humdinger dropping 112mm in less than an hour. The thunder and lightning were loud and frightening. I slept through the lot. It woke my Mum and set off their fire alarm. She went out and followed procedure only to find herself alone in the corridors until the fire brigade turned up. Thank heavens it was a false alarm as no-one else woke. I wonder if I would have.
If we were having coffee I’d tell you I am going to go to a discussion group this afternoon on the making of identity. I have strong views on this subject but it will be interesting to hear what others think. I will be doing a book review and continuing on with my cruise series. This week I’m going to talk about the food on board.
Now. What about you? What have you been up to? Read any good books. I needed something mindless but enjoyable so this week I have been reading a Janet Evanovitch book. What has your weather been like? Warming up yet?

I use to find the wait after submitting a piece somewhere could be almost painful with anticipation, I have learned to work on new pieces in the meantime so my focus is elsewhere. Now I enjoy the wait. Early happy birthday to you and Roger. Great pictures. Nice post, thank you for sharing.

I agree – you just have to forget about them once they have gone and get on with other stuff. I’m glad you now enjoy the wait. I haven’t quite reached that point but I no longer stress over it. Thanks for the birthday greetings. Have a good week.

I feel your husband’s loss of his car. I am having Prius withdrawal. Loved my Prius but it had become very battered after 10 years and 100,000 plus miles. I would have kept it but my husband was very uncomfortable driving in it, especially for long trips, and I didn’t like riding in his truck, which threw me around and rode hard. So we have a new (used) car we both like.

Nothing else to natter about over coffee except that my husbands hand has finally healed, three months after a relatively simple operation and two repeat surgeries. He just got his last set of stitches out and loves being able to work with two hands again, after three months of only having one to use.

Glad to hear your husband’s hand has finally healed Noelle. Things like that can really get you down. It is strange how attached we can become to a piece of metal. I’m glad that although you are mourning your Prius at least you like the new car. Roger made the choice which car he would sell and chose this one because of its age and difficulty getting parts for it (although he hasn’t needed to get any there is always the potential with any car). I think he would have been equally miserable if we’d sold the other, although I think he would have got more than our bed cost for it. Hope you have a great week Noelle.

Hi Irene! Thanks for the cup of coffee. I’ve taken to putting coconut creamer in mine, supposedly a healthy addition. If help you unpack a few boxes, if I were closer. It seems endless until you get moved in. How do you like your new bed? Sometimes a good bed can be worth the sacrifice to get it, but I understand the emotional and nostalgic ties we often have to things we need to sell or give up. I’m glad it was a false alarm for your Mom. I’d love to listen to a big storm rumble through. Happy birthday to both you and Roger! Enjoy your night out!

The joy (not) of moving and packing and unpacking… ugh. I feel your hubby’s pain… hard to let go of some things more than others!
