That’s such a stunning purple and the sand is so much different than what I see on western lake and river beaches.

Our sand varies from the whitest of fine whites to coarse yellow to black rutile sands. I don’t know of any pebble beaches in Australia but no doubt there are some.

Oh my goodness – is this a purple nautilus? The color of an amethyst. I’ve never seen one like this. It must be very tiny. And that viscous membrane oozing from it is its life force? That’s sad if so. Still, an amazing photo of an enchanting creature.

I think it was the sad scenario but I don’t know for sure. It wasn’t tiny, a little smaller than our garden snails.
