A piece of Advice: Weekly Discover Challenge

Our local baker always has a bit of advice on hand that not only makes me smile but benefits him should the advice be followed. Whether it would benefit the recipient should they take it up – perhaps (they’d certainly enjoy the cake) but perhaps not.

The best piece of advice I wrote about in the Discover Challenge Apology in May so I’ll leave you to follow the link and go there if you want. Instead today I’m going to give a piece of advice about the self. So often people try to be who they think the person they are with wants them to be and this becomes difficult when you are with many people at the same time. As the saying goes, you can’t please all of the people all of the time. As this is the case then why not just be yourself all the time. Spend the time and find out who you are. What you think and what you want from life. You will be happier. The people surrounding you will like you for who you are and not what you are trying to be.

About Irene Waters 19 Writer Memoirist

I began my working career as a reluctant potato peeler whilst waiting to commence my training as a student nurse. On completion I worked mainly in intensive care/coronary care; finishing my hospital career as clinical nurse educator in intensive care. A life changing period as a resort owner/manager on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu was followed by recovery time as a farmer at Bucca Wauka. Having discovered I was no farmer and vowing never again to own an animal bigger than myself I took on the Barrington General Store. Here we also ran a five star restaurant. Working the shop of a day 7am - 6pm followed by the restaurant until late was surprisingly more stressful than Tanna. On the sale we decided to retire and renovate our house with the help of a builder friend. Now believing we knew everything about building we set to constructing our own house. Just finished a coal mine decided to set up in our backyard. Definitely time to retire we moved to Queensland. I had been writing a manuscript for some time. In the desire to complete this I enrolled in a post grad certificate in creative Industries which I completed 2013. Commenced a masters by research in 2014.

  1. So far no one has attempted to kidnap me. His philosophy is working. I can’t be budged from this slice of cake – yum!

The guy deserves the custom if only for the smiles he puts on people’s faces when they read his sign.

LOL and kudos to the writer for making this illogical statement. A great sales gimmick.
