About Irene Waters 19 Writer Memoirist
I began my working career as a reluctant potato peeler whilst waiting to commence my training as a student nurse. On completion I worked mainly in intensive care/coronary care; finishing my hospital career as clinical nurse educator in intensive care. A life changing period as a resort owner/manager on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu was followed by recovery time as a farmer at Bucca Wauka. Having discovered I was no farmer and vowing never again to own an animal bigger than myself I took on the Barrington General Store. Here we also ran a five star restaurant. Working the shop of a day 7am - 6pm followed by the restaurant until late was surprisingly more stressful than Tanna. On the sale we decided to retire and renovate our house with the help of a builder friend. Now believing we knew everything about building we set to constructing our own house. Just finished a coal mine decided to set up in our backyard. Definitely time to retire we moved to Queensland. I had been writing a manuscript for some time. In the desire to complete this I enrolled in a post grad certificate in creative Industries which I completed 2013. I followed this by doing a Master of Arts by research graduating in 2017. Now I live to write and write to live.
such a cutie pie

Thanks Cee. I love the dog also. She always leaves home looking beautiful but comes back in the morning wet but clean and in the afternoon wet, covered in mud and unrecognisable.

To hike in a stream?! Oh, I am so jealous! Is this a common experience, the way you get from Abba to Dabba every day, or had recent rains caused flooding over what was usually a dry track?
As for Muffin, you must have to bathe her twice a day. What fun.
That third photo – is that a whale? Is that a WHALE? THAT’S A WHALE?! Oh my.
How do you ever get anything done living in Australia?

Done? What does that word mean? Oh I know — yes I get a lot of things done – I take plenty of photos.
No it wasn’t flooded just a normal hike out in the midday sun. It was actually great fun as you walked against the current a fair distance upstream and then just lay down and let the water bring you back downstream at quite a rapid pace. Some came prepared with boards but not knowing in advance my body just had to float by itself. Roger luckily was happy to walk back and took my camera. This is a place I’d love to go back to.
Laundry tub with a hose attachment.
It is, it is , it is – in answer to all your questions. 🙂

At least here she is still a banana muffin. Often she becomes a chocolate muffin after a swim when she rolls in the dirtiest dirt possible.

Haha…what is about dirt that dogs love so much? 😀

Probably the reaction of their owners. Certainly not the bath that follows. 🙂
