This week I always find is a week of reflection. What the year has been, what I have achieved, what I haven’t achieved, the smiles and the tears. But on top of this is my belief that I will enter the New Year full of hope, with plans of things I will do, a list of things that I will achieve, my purpose will be renewed and revitalised. I have lived long enough to know that not all these things I plan to do will happen. Perhaps few of them will. But still I have this feeling of excitement building.

Santa has been and gone surfing. He’ll soon be hibernating in a box somewhere or being renewed into another character.

And as time marches on so too will my decorations. Back into their box awaiting Christmas 2016.

That is true. I only took the last one of the tree outside the Japanese restaurant yesterday and already it is gone, presumably back in its box.

Love the Legos, Irene. We saw an exhibition of Legos at Morton Arboretum this year and it was spectacular. I enjoyed seeing some of your ornaments as well. Mine will definitely not be put away for at least the better part of this week and then it might only be those on the tree, as we’ll have company for New Years Eve and Day. I’ve often left my decorations up until almost the end of January, the more to enjoy them.

Mine will last until New Year and then go, or perhaps, like you, we’ll enjoy them longer — until we have a Chrismas dinner with my sister in law and her husband who are coming out to visit from Germany early January. Have a Happy New Year Janet.
