I began my working career as a reluctant potato peeler whilst waiting to commence my training as a student nurse. On completion I worked mainly in intensive care/coronary care; finishing my hospital career as clinical nurse educator in intensive care. A life changing period as a resort owner/manager on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu was followed by recovery time as a farmer at Bucca Wauka. Having discovered I was no farmer and vowing never again to own an animal bigger than myself I took on the Barrington General Store. Here we also ran a five star restaurant. Working the shop of a day 7am - 6pm followed by the restaurant until late was surprisingly more stressful than Tanna. On the sale we decided to retire and renovate our house with the help of a builder friend. Now believing we knew everything about building we set to constructing our own house. Just finished a coal mine decided to set up in our backyard. Definitely time to retire we moved to Queensland. I had been writing a manuscript for some time. In the desire to complete this I enrolled in a post grad certificate in creative Industries which I completed 2013. I followed this by doing a Master of Arts by research graduating in 2017. Now I live to write and write to live.

We are always on here at the same time! (Thanks for the flowers.) 🙂 Now go to bed! Or…go back to bed?

I wish it was Sharon, although the amount of work that has gone into this garden is no longer something I want to do. This is a very long time friend who lives in the hinterland. They have much cooler weather due to the elevation and can grow English style plants. The hedge of May lining the drive is just spectactular. I love going to visit.

In the hinterland it gets cool enough to have English style plants and my friend’s garden at the moment is just a spectacular mass of colour.

It is isn’t it. It is May and it is one bush that I miss in Noosa as it likes a colder climate to set the flowers. The hinterland is obviously well suited to it because the driveway hedge was spectacular.

Oh, autumn, rather than spring, flowers. Beautiful nonetheless. It would be like magic driving up the driveway when the flowers were in bloom.

I took them on Thursday so I’m pretty sure it is Spring. Probably called May because it is an English bush and flowers there in May. Yes it was magic driving up the drive – such a profusion. 🙂

Oh, called May! My misunderstanding. Beautiful! 🙂

That is understandable as being a Qlder they wouldn’t be a plant you would know. 🙂

What a profusion of color! My Aunt is headed to Australia soon and I wish I could fit in her suitcase!

A plethora of beautiful flowers, Irene. Strange to see since we are heading into fall. I’m not sure how much fall we will have – it’s been raining nearly non-stop for two weeks, and we are just now beginning to get the winds and rain from Hurricane Joaquin, which are stripping the leaves. Not sure if we will even have any fall color.

I hope they find the boat that is missing. We saw some footage of your neck of the woods tonight on the news. Hopefully you are okay but yes you probably won’t get the fall colour this year.
