Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Cream to Light Brown (Mainly Timber)

A “woodie” as this car is  has wooden framework and timber infill panels in the rear. Intially, this was to give the car structural strength but after a time the wooden frame was replaced by other materials and only the infill panels remained. I get a bit of a buzz whenever I see one as they really are part of a bygone era.

The old caravan had me fixated as well. I’d never seen timber framed windows on a van like this before. A great idea for ventilation.

The timber table may be borderline light brown as may be the slats framing Buddah.

This little dog is definitely light brown.

About Irene Waters 19 Writer Memoirist

I began my working career as a reluctant potato peeler whilst waiting to commence my training as a student nurse. On completion I worked mainly in intensive care/coronary care; finishing my hospital career as clinical nurse educator in intensive care. A life changing period as a resort owner/manager on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu was followed by recovery time as a farmer at Bucca Wauka. Having discovered I was no farmer and vowing never again to own an animal bigger than myself I took on the Barrington General Store. Here we also ran a five star restaurant. Working the shop of a day 7am - 6pm followed by the restaurant until late was surprisingly more stressful than Tanna. On the sale we decided to retire and renovate our house with the help of a builder friend. Now believing we knew everything about building we set to constructing our own house. Just finished a coal mine decided to set up in our backyard. Definitely time to retire we moved to Queensland. I had been writing a manuscript for some time. In the desire to complete this I enrolled in a post grad certificate in creative Industries which I completed 2013. I followed this by doing a Master of Arts by research graduating in 2017. Now I live to write and write to live.

  1. What a wonderful take on the theme – the woodie is wonderful! And the pooch has my heart. Looks like an old man caught in a fur suit too large.

What a story that Woodie tells…In high school I would have loved to have been off in a trip across the States in a car like this! Like your take on this prompt. http://judydykstrabrown.com/2015/08/11/charm-school-for-cinderella/

    • Glad you liked them Jan. I had a smile with the woodie as I took the photo in the doctor’s surgery carpark. I bet it was some old codger who had never got over the sixties but like the rest of us sees the carpark of the doctor more than he probably does the surf.

I’ve never seen a caravan with timber window frames like this one in your photo Irene, how unusual. And I used to see a ‘Woody’ now and then in California, a real classic car adored by surfers of course. And such a darling little dog 🙂
