At the Mad Hatters Tea Party he pours a cup of tea for Alice.

The cup has almost run out of frame but you can just see him as he runs away with the spoon whilst the cat fiddles.

I believe mushrooms are also called cups (though I wouldn’t eat this one).

Another tea party – a get together at Christmas. Proper tea from proper cups.

A half drunk tea in my favourite mug.

Three coffees, three vessels but only one cup – mine.

This one taken on my recent visit to NSW’s State Library made me think I wouldn’t want to have to measure this woman for cup size.

About Irene Waters 19 Writer Memoirist
I began my working career as a reluctant potato peeler whilst waiting to commence my training as a student nurse. On completion I worked mainly in intensive care/coronary care; finishing my hospital career as clinical nurse educator in intensive care. A life changing period as a resort owner/manager on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu was followed by recovery time as a farmer at Bucca Wauka. Having discovered I was no farmer and vowing never again to own an animal bigger than myself I took on the Barrington General Store. Here we also ran a five star restaurant. Working the shop of a day 7am - 6pm followed by the restaurant until late was surprisingly more stressful than Tanna. On the sale we decided to retire and renovate our house with the help of a builder friend. Now believing we knew everything about building we set to constructing our own house. Just finished a coal mine decided to set up in our backyard. Definitely time to retire we moved to Queensland. I had been writing a manuscript for some time. In the desire to complete this I enrolled in a post grad certificate in creative Industries which I completed 2013. I followed this by doing a Master of Arts by research graduating in 2017. Now I live to write and write to live.
That woman on your left, Irene ! – it appears to be the Queen !

That is my Mum who is the same age as the Queen – and yes she was the queen at that high tea. LOL 🙂

Lovely photos. I’m sure I have been to that Mad Hatter’s Tea Party garden, but just can’t recall where it is right now. Could you remind me please.

That Alice in Wonderland scene is at the Hunter Gardens in the Hunter Valley NSW. They had a storybook section of the garden and all the nursery rhymes were there. Quite a trip down memory lane.

It’s funny how some cups just sit nicely in your hand and you enjoy holding them. 🙂

Thanks Sherri. Some of these challenges are so much fun making you see photographs from different angles. Yes those cup sizes are too frightening to think about. ❤
