Clouds – one of my favourite things. They are so emotive. Filling you with wonder at the colours and shapes.

They can also be ominous filling you with wonder and fear.

About Irene Waters 19 Writer Memoirist
I began my working career as a reluctant potato peeler whilst waiting to commence my training as a student nurse. On completion I worked mainly in intensive care/coronary care; finishing my hospital career as clinical nurse educator in intensive care. A life changing period as a resort owner/manager on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu was followed by recovery time as a farmer at Bucca Wauka. Having discovered I was no farmer and vowing never again to own an animal bigger than myself I took on the Barrington General Store. Here we also ran a five star restaurant. Working the shop of a day 7am - 6pm followed by the restaurant until late was surprisingly more stressful than Tanna. On the sale we decided to retire and renovate our house with the help of a builder friend. Now believing we knew everything about building we set to constructing our own house. Just finished a coal mine decided to set up in our backyard. Definitely time to retire we moved to Queensland. I had been writing a manuscript for some time. In the desire to complete this I enrolled in a post grad certificate in creative Industries which I completed 2013. I followed this by doing a Master of Arts by research graduating in 2017. Now I live to write and write to live.
Great photos Irene, clouds are very fascinating 😀

That either means you are going on a lovely holiday or you are about to fall off a mountain.

You do clouds beautifully but have you ever come across these?

They were mentioned in the paper at the weekend; mammary clouds, like puffy white udders. What is nature up to, really sending out confused messages.

I think they are just fantastic and my husband would like to live somewhere where it happens. From what I gather you need extreme temperature changes. I’ve never seen anything like it.

Love cloud-watching. Actually, looking up in general I’m fond of — clouds, moon, stars…

Couldn’t agree with you more. The stories that could be made from a cloud are so varied and yet it is the same cloud seen by different eyes.

Isn’t it amazing that we can look at clouds with new eyes every time?

Beautiful clouds Irene 🙂 The photo that really grabbed me was the one of the darkening clouds drawing in over the beach scene. Very atmospheric…

I was with a disabled person that day and knew she couldn’t run for cover so we left. Everybody else was seemingly oblivious to what looked to me to be an impending storm of mammoth proportions. They were right to stay lying on the beach as we didn’t get a drop of rain out of it. 🙂

I would have done the same thing Irene! We used to get those cloudy formations in California sometimes but was so disappointed when they blew over without bringing any rain!!!

Now that is a song I don’t think I know so I’ll check her out. You’ll probably tell me she is not singer but I’ll check anyway.

Judy Collins is a folk singer from the 60s and 70s with a crystalline voice. I’m pretty sure the song is Both Side Now, and it’s basically about love. You will like it – it’s lovely.

Knew the song as soon as it started playing but don’t know Judy Collins. I know it as a Joni Mitchell song. Both are great renditions and the song is a reminder of an era past. Thanks for bringing it back to my attention.
