When I visit my brother in Switzerland the action shots that happen are tame almost sedentary things yet they still have the power to frighten the life almost out of me. You can see the look of boredom on my nephews face and the look of total terror on mine.

A ride in the blowup boat on a swimming pool would have probably been more my style but I probably would have fallen in as I alighted.

You can see why my brother and his family were bored. This is the activity they would normally do as a family. My eight year old nephew skis the black slopes, they all rock climb and do numerous other action activities.

About Irene Waters 19 Writer Memoirist
I began my working career as a reluctant potato peeler whilst waiting to commence my training as a student nurse. On completion I worked mainly in intensive care/coronary care; finishing my hospital career as clinical nurse educator in intensive care. A life changing period as a resort owner/manager on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu was followed by recovery time as a farmer at Bucca Wauka. Having discovered I was no farmer and vowing never again to own an animal bigger than myself I took on the Barrington General Store. Here we also ran a five star restaurant. Working the shop of a day 7am - 6pm followed by the restaurant until late was surprisingly more stressful than Tanna. On the sale we decided to retire and renovate our house with the help of a builder friend. Now believing we knew everything about building we set to constructing our own house. Just finished a coal mine decided to set up in our backyard. Definitely time to retire we moved to Queensland. I had been writing a manuscript for some time. In the desire to complete this I enrolled in a post grad certificate in creative Industries which I completed 2013. I followed this by doing a Master of Arts by research graduating in 2017. Now I live to write and write to live.
That first photo smacked me in the face and made me laugh!

Oh I do Noelle but not if it involves sheer cliffs or high speed kiddies racing cars.

That is the look of abject terror on my face and total boredom on my nephews as he said go faster. The boat would have been much better. XD

The Swiss have an amazing backyard built for adventure. We have good friends in Missoula, MT and the husband is from Switzerland (we call them our Swissoulian friends). He is utterly bored with the tame mountains of Montana! His wife often shares an expression like yours, though!

I can believe that. I had the stupidity to take my brother to a look out last time he was here. He was off over the edge and I spent the entire time worried the cliff would give way. I’m better off not there.

Terror can sometimes look like fun. I hope he has good memories but we’ve had fun watching him make some of ours.

Love the photos, especially the first one of you! Your brother’s family sounds just like my brother’s…quite the adventurers. But I bet Aunt Irene’s visits are always wonderful 🙂 ❤
