The Santa’s are off on the mad dash. Will number 34 pass number 45 as they come around the straight. Number 36 already looks as though he is struggling to keep the beat but lets face it – it was hot today. Over 30 degrees centigrade on the coast so Cooroy, a little inland , would have been even hotter. It just goes to show what Santas will do in the effort to dash around the world to deliver Christmas joy.
But talking of joy we should not lose sight of the real meaning of Christmas. For Christians it is the celebration of the birth of Jesus. For all, whether Christian, another faith or no faith at all it should be a time when we extend our arms in friendship and aim for PEACE ON EARTH.
Vince Gill wrote
Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with me.
Let there be peace on earth
The peace that was meant to be.
With God as our Father
Brothers all are we.
Let me walk with my brother
In perfect harmony.
Let peace begin with me
Let this be the moment now.
With every step I take
Let this be my solemn vow.
To take each moment
And live each moment
With peace eternally.
Let there be peace on earth,
And let it begin with me.

Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with me.
Let there be peace on earth
The peace that was meant to be.
With God as our Father
Brothers all are we.
Let me walk with my brother
In perfect harmony.
Let peace begin with me
Let this be the moment now.
With every step I take
Let this be my solemn vow.
To take each moment
And live each moment
Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with me.
Merry Christmas to you all.

Peace on earth, good will to all. Love the running Santa’s. Not an easy feat with a fake beard on one’s face. Thank you for so eloquently reminding us of the reason we celebrate no matter our faith or place. Extending friendship from northern Idaho where a Santa beard would feel warm today and where we await the good news of tomorrow.

Great to get that long arm of friendship from Northern Idaho Charli. Lets hope those rare gems of yours are found and it extends around the world. I still struggle to get my head around today and tomorrow but I hope your day at Elmira Pond is warm and peaceful.
