The Te Papa museum in Wellington lived up to its reputation as being a fantastic natural history and every other thing museum. We had missed it on our previous visits to Wellington and I’m glad I had the opportunity of at least a morning there before I flew home on Wednesday. This window in the foyer of the museum certainly put you in the mood for its current feature exhibition although the woman sitting at the seats was seemingly oblivious to the danger behind her.

I began my working career as a reluctant potato peeler whilst waiting to commence my training as a student nurse. On completion I worked mainly in intensive care/coronary care; finishing my hospital career as clinical nurse educator in intensive care. A life changing period as a resort owner/manager on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu was followed by recovery time as a farmer at Bucca Wauka. Having discovered I was no farmer and vowing never again to own an animal bigger than myself I took on the Barrington General Store. Here we also ran a five star restaurant. Working the shop of a day 7am - 6pm followed by the restaurant until late was surprisingly more stressful than Tanna. On the sale we decided to retire and renovate our house with the help of a builder friend. Now believing we knew everything about building we set to constructing our own house. Just finished a coal mine decided to set up in our backyard. Definitely time to retire we moved to Queensland. I had been writing a manuscript for some time. In the desire to complete this I enrolled in a post grad certificate in creative Industries which I completed 2013. I followed this by doing a Master of Arts by research graduating in 2017. Now I live to write and write to live.

I’m glad it raises anti-feeling. I hope it does the same in those that perhaps were ambivalent or pro. It really is a ghastly thing to do. Glad to welcome you to the windows of Te Papa.

They had a great film in the exhibit itself which was taken in the main street in Wellington I think as I had walked down it several times and recognised the shops shown. It had been taken over by the dinosaurs and they were fighting and mating in the street, running from predators, coming out of man holes, big and little. It was just fantastic. I think I could have sat there all day if I hadn’t had a plane to catch.

A great photo. One can spend all day at Te Papa. I have been a few times now and they change the exhibits as well. The last time my daughter and I went down for the wedding gown exhibition on loan from the Victoria and Albert Museum. 😀

That would have been a fabulous exhibition to see. I was really impressed with the Te Papa. Even more impressed that they make it accessible to everyone by making it free entry and then only charging for the special exhibits. Most museums charge such a high entry that a lot of families just can’t afford to go. 🙂

It is fun to have you a long. At last it can be a true outcome someone asking to go in the suitcase. Geoff looks like he is having a fantastic time. I’m enjoying his escapades vicariously, I wonder if I would have the courage to do them in person.
