I began my working career as a reluctant potato peeler whilst waiting to commence my training as a student nurse. On completion I worked mainly in intensive care/coronary care; finishing my hospital career as clinical nurse educator in intensive care. A life changing period as a resort owner/manager on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu was followed by recovery time as a farmer at Bucca Wauka. Having discovered I was no farmer and vowing never again to own an animal bigger than myself I took on the Barrington General Store. Here we also ran a five star restaurant. Working the shop of a day 7am - 6pm followed by the restaurant until late was surprisingly more stressful than Tanna. On the sale we decided to retire and renovate our house with the help of a builder friend. Now believing we knew everything about building we set to constructing our own house. Just finished a coal mine decided to set up in our backyard. Definitely time to retire we moved to Queensland. I had been writing a manuscript for some time. In the desire to complete this I enrolled in a post grad certificate in creative Industries which I completed 2013. I followed this by doing a Master of Arts by research graduating in 2017. Now I live to write and write to live.

Is the dog being uncooperative? 😉

He decided to burrow and go to sleep, so yes a trifle unco-operative

Is the dog sniffing after something? There’s a story in there!

For the dog. Yes I don’t know whether a bird has nested but I think rather it is a cool burrow in which to sleep and rest weary bones. Temperatures here hitting 40 degrees centrigrade so hot with no tempering breeze today at least.

Ha, ha! The grass that ate the dog!

I heard on the radio yesterday that parts of Australia were hitting the high temperatures again. Keep cool. 😀

Yes it’s hot but as we have had no rain the humidity isn’t too bad so it is quite bearable despite the high temperatures. What is it like there? I’ll be in Wellington at the end of the month and don’t plan on taking winter clothes. Should I? 🙂

I worry about our dog getting into long grass – the snakes are out now with the earlier heat. Having a colder week down in central Victoria, wood heater going non-stop.. The ground is still saturated from heavy rain two nights ago. 😀

I’m with you Christine. My husband exercises little dog control and I sound like the harpy “he’s after bird’s eggs, he’ll get a tick, a snake will get him.” None of my predictions have yet eventuated thankfully.
Send some of that cooler weather this way – we are sweltering up here. 🙂
