(4 photos) This is the kind of activity you can get the kids to do in the school holidays if you have numerous cutlery sets. Looks great with chili between the rows but any flower that you have lots of would do.

This odd ball creates a good diversion for the children also as they have to guess what it is.

This isn’t a game for the children but can be used as an example to show what a plate looks like if all the vegetables are eaten.

The addition of this photo was inspired by Cee’s collection this week where her theme was round (although there is no theme for odd ball photos) but following suit all of mine this week are round. The odd ball thing about this last photo is the person who actually uses the ring. This is the point at which abseilers secure themselves and jump off the cliff.
These photos are for Cee’s Odd Ball Photo challenge.
About Irene Waters 19 Writer Memoirist
I began my working career as a reluctant potato peeler whilst waiting to commence my training as a student nurse. On completion I worked mainly in intensive care/coronary care; finishing my hospital career as clinical nurse educator in intensive care. A life changing period as a resort owner/manager on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu was followed by recovery time as a farmer at Bucca Wauka. Having discovered I was no farmer and vowing never again to own an animal bigger than myself I took on the Barrington General Store. Here we also ran a five star restaurant. Working the shop of a day 7am - 6pm followed by the restaurant until late was surprisingly more stressful than Tanna. On the sale we decided to retire and renovate our house with the help of a builder friend. Now believing we knew everything about building we set to constructing our own house. Just finished a coal mine decided to set up in our backyard. Definitely time to retire we moved to Queensland. I had been writing a manuscript for some time. In the desire to complete this I enrolled in a post grad certificate in creative Industries which I completed 2013. I followed this by doing a Master of Arts by research graduating in 2017. Now I live to write and write to live.
Love the cutlery one – wish I had enough to build one of my own!

Always garage sales and op shops but then what do you do with it later. Glad you enjoyed the picture Lori

I’ve always wanted to plant an herb spiral like that!

and like me you have never quite managed it. At least you still have time – it will never happen for me now.

There’s plenty of belaying marks and rods around the mountains here. My daughters rock climb (especially the one I call Rock Climber) but I’ve never seen any so colorful! Great photos.

There are a number of them here also and they are all colour coded as to the degree of difficulty from beginners to so difficult you have to be mad to attempt it.

Ack! Did you make the spiral in that first picture? Beautiful. And full of an I’m-not-nearly-patient-enough-for-that vibe.

No I’m not that patient either.I came across it on the floor of the art gallery in Brisbane. I couldn’t help but wonder about whether the artist, at the close of exhibiton, picks up her knives, forks and spoons — does she take them somewhere else and put them out again or do they just go back in the drawer for a very large dinner party.

The idea with the cutlery sets is great. How about garland for during the Christmas season?

These are fun photos. Your first shot is simply remarkable. That must have taken ages to put together.

Yes it must. Having spent that time imagine how it must feel when you dismantle it. It’s hard enough with a jigsaw.

Would love to know what the second photo is…or am I being thick? Your first photo is so intriguing, I’ve never seen anything like that! You are so inventive Irene, I would never think about doing something like that. I love how inventive you are. I hope you have a good week my friend 🙂

The second photo is the water in the bottom of a bromeliad reflecting the palms trees which shade it. I think it is a great photo as it looks to me a bit like an eye.
I wish I was that inventive Sherri – this was an artwork on the floor of the art gallery and I couldn’t help but wonder at the artists feelings having spent so much time on the arranging to pull it all to bits. Then I though what a great school holiday activity. 🙂

Ahh…I would never have guessed! It is a great photo, very clever. And I thought maybe you had once made this art display for a project or something…and tried to imagine how long it would take to do! It’s great to take these photos and then be able to use them for challenges like these.
See you soon Irene. I might be signing off soon…still can’t get down to anything but I’ve been thrown off kilter by the death of a very close family friend at the weekend, he was like a dad to me in many ways, and also got problems with my own dad. I’ll email you as soon as I can, I’m a bit overwhelmed ❤
