Such textural pieces of art! I love the koala too.

Yes bark gets me in all the time with the texture. Particularly paperbarks. They are trees I could just hug.

Great abstract photos – could grace any art gallery wall. Are koalas cuddly?

Thanks Noelle. Not particularly as they have incredibly long sharp claws which they have an instictive need to dig in if they are off the ground. So possible but a little painful.

I LOVE those first two. And the koala! Cuteness overload!

Me too. I love bark generally and can’t resist. These paperbarks are so soft to the touch. Lovely

You capture the spongy sense of paperbark – all that tree strength peeled back in tissue thin layers, an anomaly to consider. Why? Just for the sake of beauty.

Or did it just get sunburnt? I love that description “spongy” for that is exactly what they are. 🙂

Irene, you have some great macros for this week’s bark. I really enjoyed looking at your post.

Thanks Cee. I just love bark and send my husband mad as I stop to photograph trees on our walks.

Oh! A koala. Envious.. The bark of the trees is even different from here. So dry!

We are very lucky to have koalas living in the wild for us to see. Strangely I found Sweden much like Australia in its countryside except that the vegetation was different. It had the feeling of space. I had come from England where I felt very claustrophic.
