I’m sure that we are all unhappy at times. If we aren’t happy then obviously we are unhappy. I see it as a kind of neutral position to be in. You need this neutral position in order to know that you have gone up a level and are now in a positive happy state and if travelling further up the happiness scale you may be overjoyed or ecstatically happy. If you go down a level then you are either in a negative depressed state or in a natural state of sorrow. This is my definition which I’m sure you are already disagreeing with.
Unhappy according to the dictionary covers all those emotions on the other side of the continuum – sad, miserable, sorrowful, dejected, disconsolate, morose, regretful, broken-hearted, heartbroken, down, downcast, dispirited, downhearted, heavy-hearted, crestfallen, depressed………… and I am only down to the D’s and the list goes on and on.
No I prefer my definition of neutral. I do occasionally experience all the dictionary emotions at times but normally I’m either happy or unhappy in that neutral kind of way.
