I began my working career as a reluctant potato peeler whilst waiting to commence my training as a student nurse. On completion I worked mainly in intensive care/coronary care; finishing my hospital career as clinical nurse educator in intensive care. A life changing period as a resort owner/manager on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu was followed by recovery time as a farmer at Bucca Wauka. Having discovered I was no farmer and vowing never again to own an animal bigger than myself I took on the Barrington General Store. Here we also ran a five star restaurant. Working the shop of a day 7am - 6pm followed by the restaurant until late was surprisingly more stressful than Tanna. On the sale we decided to retire and renovate our house with the help of a builder friend. Now believing we knew everything about building we set to constructing our own house. Just finished a coal mine decided to set up in our backyard. Definitely time to retire we moved to Queensland. I had been writing a manuscript for some time. In the desire to complete this I enrolled in a post grad certificate in creative Industries which I completed 2013. I followed this by doing a Master of Arts by research graduating in 2017. Now I live to write and write to live.

Irene I just found your blog today, I wanted to thank you for coming to my blog today. I have been doing the photo challenge for atleast two years and have met some wonderful friends online this way. I just moved and cannot find my camera, so I am improvising for now. Enjoying your photo’s for sure. Thanks. Jackie

I have only just found the photo challenge. I think this is my third and I am really enjoying the challenge. After posting I have really enjoyed getting out and about visiting other challengers; what a wonderful diverse range of interpretations everybody has. I’ll be visiting you again. Cheers Irene

I don’t think it was high tide as I believe the jet shoots up a long way and it was more a swell with a small up thrust. It will be a good excuse to go back. I have posted the full picture in my next post.

yes i think I used one of them months ago. I will look out for yours. If you go back I know a great little place to stay the night there. I was by myself and just happened upon it.

It was taken at Punakaiki which is between Greymouth and Westport on the South Island of New Zealand. It is called pancake rocks and is indeed very layered.

It that petrified wood? If I go by your description, an artist actually did it instead. If that’s the case, I wonder what he/she was thinking at the time he/she created it.

No, it’s not wood. It is actually rock. Follow the link to Pancake Rocks the full picture. The quote was one I found about layers that probably had absolutely nothing to do with it except in my head I saw it as erosion (stripped bare)/ art being created.
