Pancake Rocks???

Well recognised. They are pretty distinctive though aren’t they.

They’re amazing – did you go at high tide for the blow holes?

I don’t think it was high tide as I believe the jet shoots up a long way and it was more a swell with a small up thrust. It will be a good excuse to go back. I have posted the full picture in my next post.

yes i think I used one of them months ago. I will look out for yours. If you go back I know a great little place to stay the night there. I was by myself and just happened upon it.

Place to stay sounds good. I’ll get the name when the trip happens, I’ll also look out your post

Very layered 🙂 Where did you take it?
LikeLike
It was taken at Punakaiki which is between Greymouth and Westport on the South Island of New Zealand. It is called pancake rocks and is indeed very layered.

It that petrified wood? If I go by your description, an artist actually did it instead. If that’s the case, I wonder what he/she was thinking at the time he/she created it.
LikeLike
No, it’s not wood. It is actually rock. Follow the link to Pancake Rocks the full picture. The quote was one I found about layers that probably had absolutely nothing to do with it except in my head I saw it as erosion (stripped bare)/ art being created.

What a nice selection for layers. Where was that at?

Thanks. On the west coast of the South Island of New Zealand. Such an unexpected sight when you drive around a bend there they are. To see what they look like

Thanks for the link. I’ve gone and checked it out and made a comment that probably won’t make any sense, because it didn’t make any sense to me. 🙂
