Like this car doorway covered in snow making the door into the shop look so appealing but it looks as though the woman’s doorway has been gagged.

About Irene Waters 19 Writer Memoirist
I began my working career as a reluctant potato peeler whilst waiting to commence my training as a student nurse. On completion I worked mainly in intensive care/coronary care; finishing my hospital career as clinical nurse educator in intensive care. A life changing period as a resort owner/manager on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu was followed by recovery time as a farmer at Bucca Wauka. Having discovered I was no farmer and vowing never again to own an animal bigger than myself I took on the Barrington General Store. Here we also ran a five star restaurant. Working the shop of a day 7am - 6pm followed by the restaurant until late was surprisingly more stressful than Tanna. On the sale we decided to retire and renovate our house with the help of a builder friend. Now believing we knew everything about building we set to constructing our own house. Just finished a coal mine decided to set up in our backyard. Definitely time to retire we moved to Queensland. I had been writing a manuscript for some time. In the desire to complete this I enrolled in a post grad certificate in creative Industries which I completed 2013. I followed this by doing a Master of Arts by research graduating in 2017. Now I live to write and write to live.
Is that a dead cow in your first photo? Do you know the story of that?

No it is a dead whale in the town square. The entire village had already had two nights feasting on it before I arrived. So cold no refrigeration required. One more night and the dogs were going to be let loose on it.

I love a solution to a story mystery. Thanks, Irene.

Some of these images are beautiful but others are disturbing. Of course, so is the world. I guess I’m in a negative mood at the moment.

I too am in a negative mood now. It looks like the unthinkable has happened. Now we wait with baited breath to view where we go from here.

Irene Your pictures are diverse unique and good. But the door on a window that’s not a door it is odd . The woman in a car outside a shop, i could see a story a wonderful irate husband gagging her for a bit of peace . But (as i suspect) she’s rolling a fag, holding the paper in her mouth while she loosens the tobacco… i have watched my husband a million times roll his organic tobacco, menthol tip and liquorish paper. Kidding himself… he’s smoking a humbug.

LOL. I wonder. I prefer to go with the man shutting her up for saying incessantly “I told you not to go out that we would get caught in a snowstorm.”

I got my question about the animal remains answered above! Loved the doors – a nice selection – but what about the door(s) onto the moat? Who would want to exit into a moat?!!!!

It makes me think of Romeo and Juliet but poor Romeo would have to tread water. Just a trifle weird.
