I began my working career as a reluctant potato peeler whilst waiting to commence my training as a student nurse. On completion I worked mainly in intensive care/coronary care; finishing my hospital career as clinical nurse educator in intensive care. A life changing period as a resort owner/manager on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu was followed by recovery time as a farmer at Bucca Wauka. Having discovered I was no farmer and vowing never again to own an animal bigger than myself I took on the Barrington General Store. Here we also ran a five star restaurant. Working the shop of a day 7am - 6pm followed by the restaurant until late was surprisingly more stressful than Tanna. On the sale we decided to retire and renovate our house with the help of a builder friend. Now believing we knew everything about building we set to constructing our own house. Just finished a coal mine decided to set up in our backyard. Definitely time to retire we moved to Queensland. I had been writing a manuscript for some time. In the desire to complete this I enrolled in a post grad certificate in creative Industries which I completed 2013. I followed this by doing a Master of Arts by research graduating in 2017. Now I live to write and write to live.

Abundant Nature in the Upper Reaches of the Nile: Nature: Lens-Artists Challenge
On a tour of ancient Egypt it was an unexpected delight to have the opportunity to go bird watching in the upper reaches of the Nile. In earlier days the Nile periodically flooded but since the building of the first … Continue reading
Nubian Curves: Lens-Artists Challenge:
We approached the Nubian village from the Nile. The houses were quite different to the Egyptian Houses we’d been used to seeing. These ones were colourful and used curves to great effect. Vaulted ceilings were common and the houses traditionally … Continue reading

Celebrations on the Island of Tanna: Lens-Artists Challenge
There are three main celebrations on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu. All will see women with brightly painted faces. Tinsel has replaced wreaths of leaves for most women. Kastom (traditional) dancing is always performed both by the coast and … Continue reading
Small Splashes in Egypt: Lens Artist Challenge
Sunset on the Nile with oar splash I was so busy photographing the African Queen with her small amount of splash that I did not realise that it was about to collide, sending us into the air whilst those on … Continue reading
Everyday Moments: Lens-Artists Photo Challenge
My everyday is made up of my loving Muffin. Whose heart wouldn’t melt when she sits and looks up with those brown eyes full of love. My everyday is full of water. On the river there is always something or … Continue reading

Blue: Lens-Artists Photo Challenge
The most common colour in my photos is blue. The blue ocean and sky feature in many, if not most of my pictures. But perhaps my favourite blue photos are some city scenes – a little surrealism. In response to … Continue reading
