99 Word Flash fiction: Time to Act

It hit me like a bolt of lightning. I loved him and now he was planning marriage. Should I tell him and risk changing everything forever? Would a wife accept our friendship? Few of his girlfriends were too happy with it. Jake didn’t last long with those ones. Either way our relationship would change. Jake can’t love me or he would have told me long ago, yet I know he values my friendship more than anything.

I organised a weekend away; bushwalking and Christmas in July.

Replete and relaxed I surprised him.  “Jake! Please don’t go. I love you.”

Create a tension before or after the declaration. It can be private or public, big or small. Does it have power to those who state it or hear? What does it change?

Respond by September 29, 2015 to be included in the weekly compilation. Rules are here. All writers are welcome!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Change in progress

My husband had a slight mid-life crisis and decided he wanted to return to his youth and get a scooter. He was a “mod” in the early sixties and living in Brighton was in the heart of the clashes between the mods and the rockers which led to a brawl on the beach. The mods were teenagers who dressed in xxx and rode scooters whilst the rockers were older in their 20s and 30s riding bikes and copying Elvis and Teddy boys. Although my husband had changed since that time suddenly he wanted to return there. He hired a scooter and decided after a ride in the country it was too dangerous as it didn’t accelerate out of danger quickly enough. He would have to instead change his mind and get a motorcycle license, buy a bigger bike in order to get the wind in his hair. Suddenly he realised that I would not change my mind and sit on the back with him – he’d be going on all his jaunts alone. Again he changed his mind and bought a convertible. Here you can see the change that occurs when he wishes to get the wind in his hair.

Friday Fictioneers: The Tailgater

©

It was dusk, quickly darkening. L.A. Woman belted out with me singing along unrestrainedly until I became aware of the car following me. I didn’t know how long they’d been on my tail. I slowed and they flashed their lights.  The road was deserted. Why didn’t they overtake?  A knot of fear settled in my stomach inching into my throat. They were blowing their horn at me now and shaking their fists. I sped up. They followed. Too fast. Stop and ring the police. They stopped too. Two men alighted. A scream rose from my bowels.

“Your boot’s open Miss.”

In case boot is not the common term I believe trunk is used in some places.

Rochelle  hosts Friday Fictioneers each week. All are welcome to join in and write a 100 word flash, then add their link via the blue frog found on her site. Otherwise use the blue frog to see other people’s responses to the photo prompt which this week is courtesy of  the reclining gentleman.

Back in the days when I fended for myself my food did not have the same appeal as it has done since my husband has taken over the cooking. Did it taste bad. Maybe now I would say yes although I still enjoy a can of baked beans or sardines I will admit  it is not the same taste sensation as that of the meals my husband prepares for me.

Cee’s Odd Ball Challenge: Is it Jack’s beanstalk?

© irene waters 2015

What was odd about this odd ball was there didn’t seem to be any reason why the arm had been extended up, way up, into the air. All I could think was Jack.
