This is the first week of Trent’s new weekly smile. The purpose and guidelines can be read here but briefly the aim is to make at least one other person smile. It can be in any form you wish. So here is mine.

“I thought it’d be a big jet.” Narelle said to the steward.
“Not a popular destination.”
“I jumped at the chance to nurse in Cooktown. Sun, sand, surfing. Heaven.”
“You’ll certainly get the sand and sun.”
“ETA four hours.” Narelle settled back to enjoy the flight. This was her first post-grad job and she still couldn’t believe her luck landing this destination.
On arrival, she stood at the jet’s door seeing nothing but red sand as she wilted in the oppressive heat. Entering the terminal she was greeted with ‘Welcome to Cookton.’ Life in the desert had not been her plan.
In response to the photo prompt kindly provided by Melanie Greenwood and the hosting by Rochelle who invites us to write a flash of no more than 100 words and link up via the blue frog on her site. If you don’t want to write have a read as there is always a varied talented selection to read.

Industrious
Ants and bees
But like the queen
I’d like to be
with drones and workers
at my whim
Industrious , for I’ll accept no shirkers.
Industrious
The revolution
they’d have you believe
was a precursor to that other
that saw all in factories
working like those ants and bees.
Industrious
they tried to stamp out
with Unions pulling children out
then claiming wages should be fair,
A shorter week they then dared.
Industrious,
again in parts
sees children studying for long hours
Knowing when work they must
Schooling will be their only hope
As we all know,
knowledge does empower.

Respond by January 5, 2015 to be included in the weekly compilation.Rules are here. All writers are welcome!

Working in my office one night I noticed a flash of light before I saw my shadow. My glasses were catching the light, I had to capture the image.
