I began my working career as a reluctant potato peeler whilst waiting to commence my training as a student nurse. On completion I worked mainly in intensive care/coronary care; finishing my hospital career as clinical nurse educator in intensive care. A life changing period as a resort owner/manager on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu was followed by recovery time as a farmer at Bucca Wauka. Having discovered I was no farmer and vowing never again to own an animal bigger than myself I took on the Barrington General Store. Here we also ran a five star restaurant. Working the shop of a day 7am - 6pm followed by the restaurant until late was surprisingly more stressful than Tanna. On the sale we decided to retire and renovate our house with the help of a builder friend. Now believing we knew everything about building we set to constructing our own house. Just finished a coal mine decided to set up in our backyard. Definitely time to retire we moved to Queensland. I had been writing a manuscript for some time. In the desire to complete this I enrolled in a post grad certificate in creative Industries which I completed 2013. I followed this by doing a Master of Arts by research graduating in 2017. Now I live to write and write to live.

In December of 2013 the Weekly photo challenge was grand. For this I showed a grand hotel in Switzerland that my brother had taken my mother and I. I don’t think that I had ever experienced such luxury before and … Continue reading
Cooling: Lens Artists Challenge
When the air is hot, nothing is more cooling than being in the water whether splashing or reclining or diving to the depths. Both young and old and their doggy companions all love to cool off by having a dip. … Continue reading
Let there be light: Revisiting Weekly Photo Challenge
My post for this challenge back in November of 2013 showed a setting sun, an explosion of light over the water. The photos I have chosen for this prompt a second time round show that where there is light there … Continue reading
Wonder: Lens Artists Challenge
The Blue Mountains are a place of wonderment and from a different point I too looked in wonder (see below) but my biggest cause for wonder was “what were those things that looked like lights shining through a building below … Continue reading
Unexpected: Revisting the prompts from the Weekly Photo Challenge
Unexpected was the prompt from November 23rd 2013 and my response centred on surprises that caught you unawares – the buddah inside a tree, things found on dog walks and a friend meeting up with us on holiday for my birthday. … Continue reading
Habit: Weekly Photo Challenge
I ended my post in November 2013 with “Would I want to change my habits: no way.” It is interesting revisiting with my habits almost 5 years later. Have they changed? Yes they have just slightly. We no longer drink … Continue reading
Eerie: Weekly Photo Challenge
For the Weekly Photo Challenge prompt back in November of 2013 I posted a solitary photograph of the Champagne Pools. Mist always gives a sense of eeriness and the colour blue, often the colour of mist has the same affect in … Continue reading
Horizon: Weekly Photo Challenge
I first started doing the weekly photo challenge back in October 2013 and have missed few from that time. Sadly wordpress has decided not to continue their weekly photo challenges which leaves me with a bit of a hole so … Continue reading
Twisted in Papua New Guinea: Weekly Photo Challenge
Life is full of twists and turns whether it is the course water takes to the sea or finding yourself using the ablution block behind a living fence where the wire is held with a few simple twists. Not … Continue reading
My Place in the World: Weekly Photo Challenge
I have moved thirty two times in my life which is an average of once every two years. Some places that I moved to I felt that I was where I was supposed to be. They were my place in … Continue reading
