I began my working career as a reluctant potato peeler whilst waiting to commence my training as a student nurse. On completion I worked mainly in intensive care/coronary care; finishing my hospital career as clinical nurse educator in intensive care. A life changing period as a resort owner/manager on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu was followed by recovery time as a farmer at Bucca Wauka. Having discovered I was no farmer and vowing never again to own an animal bigger than myself I took on the Barrington General Store. Here we also ran a five star restaurant. Working the shop of a day 7am - 6pm followed by the restaurant until late was surprisingly more stressful than Tanna. On the sale we decided to retire and renovate our house with the help of a builder friend. Now believing we knew everything about building we set to constructing our own house. Just finished a coal mine decided to set up in our backyard. Definitely time to retire we moved to Queensland. I had been writing a manuscript for some time. In the desire to complete this I enrolled in a post grad certificate in creative Industries which I completed 2013. I followed this by doing a Master of Arts by research graduating in 2017. Now I live to write and write to live.

Cee’s Fun Foto: Metal or Autumn
Fall, where I live, is not a season that is marked by the beautiful leaf colours, falling to the ground creating a thick layer of mulch gently enriching the soil as it rots. Most of our trees are evergreen and … Continue reading

As a crop rice has always been important in Vietnam. Ho Chi Minh’s first promise after declaring independence from France was to fix the rice crisis. The people at this time did not have enough to eat as a result … Continue reading
Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Fire or Summer
“The animal merely makes a bed, which he warms with his body in a sheltered place; but man, having discovered fire, boxes up some air in a spacious apartment, and warms that, instead of robbing himself, makes that his bed, … Continue reading
Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Wood
Wood can have several different meanings and the same meaning can have different meanings depending where in the world you come from. A wood no matter where you are it is my understanding that although thick enough to also be … Continue reading
Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Straight lines
There is a stark contrast in straights between the hard cement girders of this bridge and the softness of the straight shadows created on the car from the straight surrounds which enclose it. There are also lots of straights to … Continue reading
Cee’s Fun Foto: Crooked and Squiggeldy lines
Crooked according to the thesaurus could be replaced by “winding, twisting, zigzag, meandering, deviating, sinuous, tortuous, serpentine, irregular; rare anfractuous.” I had thought crooked to mean on an angle such as when a picture is not hanging straight but having … Continue reading
Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Things with Edges
Above can be seen defined edges. The edge of a roof, the sea edge, and edges of all description in the building both inside and out including book edges. I haven’t taken many photos that I can pull out and … Continue reading
