I began my working career as a reluctant potato peeler whilst waiting to commence my training as a student nurse. On completion I worked mainly in intensive care/coronary care; finishing my hospital career as clinical nurse educator in intensive care. A life changing period as a resort owner/manager on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu was followed by recovery time as a farmer at Bucca Wauka. Having discovered I was no farmer and vowing never again to own an animal bigger than myself I took on the Barrington General Store. Here we also ran a five star restaurant. Working the shop of a day 7am - 6pm followed by the restaurant until late was surprisingly more stressful than Tanna. On the sale we decided to retire and renovate our house with the help of a builder friend. Now believing we knew everything about building we set to constructing our own house. Just finished a coal mine decided to set up in our backyard. Definitely time to retire we moved to Queensland. I had been writing a manuscript for some time. In the desire to complete this I enrolled in a post grad certificate in creative Industries which I completed 2013. I followed this by doing a Master of Arts by research graduating in 2017. Now I live to write and write to live.

Yes, it has been bucketing up your way. We are half thinking of going to Byron next week.

Lovely part of the world but I hope the weather changes for you. They are predicting rain up here (but then they are rarely right). Have a great holiday if you go.

Beautiful photo, the rain settles things down.

If it wasn’t for the greenery the sky and the river woudl be as one.

If you want rain, come here. It’s gloomy, cold and rainy…again! This has been the wettest, gloomiest, and dankest winter I can remember. Spring can’t come fast enough…

That is the thing I love about rain here. It isn’t cold and you still feel like walking out in it. Wet, gloom and dank is not something I envy you for – you could always come here for a bit of sun. Lovely day today.

Even here in New Zealand it is getting very dry with little rain. It has only rained twice since before Christmas and it is very brown. We have water restrictions and a fire ban now. I have seen that parts of Australia hit 50 degrees Celsius. Hope that wasn’t you. Great photo by the way. 😀

We have been hotter than normal but I don’t think we have gone above 39. When you add the humidity to this it is really hot. Our average daily high end temp is 28.9 so we are a good 10 degrees hotter than normal. Hopefully the rain is coming your rain soon. Once you have water restrictions it becomes difficult. 🙂

It reminds of the silver mulch that organic farmers use to trick the insects into not knowing which way is the sky so they get too befuddled and leave!
