A sideways glance
I gave the car
that passed me as I drove
A double take
It made me make
Was this by chance
a yellow avotar?
With camera ready
I aimed and shot
this yellow avotar
I had to be quick
Really slick
In the circumstance
Before it got too far.
The window in the car was up
Reflecting other scenes
Twas difficult because of this
To say definitely
That yes it is a yellow avotar
Sitting up, an odd ball for the challenge.
I am no poet but it is the photograph that is my contribution this week to Cee’s Odd Ball Challenge.
About Irene Waters 19 Writer Memoirist
I began my working career as a reluctant potato peeler whilst waiting to commence my training as a student nurse. On completion I worked mainly in intensive care/coronary care; finishing my hospital career as clinical nurse educator in intensive care. A life changing period as a resort owner/manager on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu was followed by recovery time as a farmer at Bucca Wauka. Having discovered I was no farmer and vowing never again to own an animal bigger than myself I took on the Barrington General Store. Here we also ran a five star restaurant. Working the shop of a day 7am - 6pm followed by the restaurant until late was surprisingly more stressful than Tanna. On the sale we decided to retire and renovate our house with the help of a builder friend. Now believing we knew everything about building we set to constructing our own house. Just finished a coal mine decided to set up in our backyard. Definitely time to retire we moved to Queensland. I had been writing a manuscript for some time. In the desire to complete this I enrolled in a post grad certificate in creative Industries which I completed 2013. I followed this by doing a Master of Arts by research graduating in 2017. Now I live to write and write to live.
Now that is an odd passenger. 🙂 Thanks Irene.

Who knew – Shrek in a car! Good thing he wasn’t driving.

I think it would have been a real struggle for him to get in through the door.

What is he or she doing? Yes, extremely odd, that’s for sure.

Ha, ha! From my American perspective, I thought he was driving! Goofy photo! You’re handy with the poetic verse. 🙂

As a driver that would certainly have been time to get off the road. I’m a hopeless poet but sometimes they seem to fit better and at least I feel as though I have done something creative in amongst all this academic readings and writings. 🙂

Haha! Not every day you see Shrek at the wheel…and I really did enjoy your poem Irene, it gave me just the smile I needed this morning, thank you for that 🙂 ❤
