The brown clouds in the distance are the remnants of an out of control bushfire yesterday which luckily is under control today. Thank you to the 20 units and 2 helicopter water bombers that responded yesterday. The koalas, reptiles, kangaroos and all the other creatures that inhabit the area including the two legged ones are very grateful.

I began my working career as a reluctant potato peeler whilst waiting to commence my training as a student nurse. On completion I worked mainly in intensive care/coronary care; finishing my hospital career as clinical nurse educator in intensive care. A life changing period as a resort owner/manager on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu was followed by recovery time as a farmer at Bucca Wauka. Having discovered I was no farmer and vowing never again to own an animal bigger than myself I took on the Barrington General Store. Here we also ran a five star restaurant. Working the shop of a day 7am - 6pm followed by the restaurant until late was surprisingly more stressful than Tanna. On the sale we decided to retire and renovate our house with the help of a builder friend. Now believing we knew everything about building we set to constructing our own house. Just finished a coal mine decided to set up in our backyard. Definitely time to retire we moved to Queensland. I had been writing a manuscript for some time. In the desire to complete this I enrolled in a post grad certificate in creative Industries which I completed 2013. I followed this by doing a Master of Arts by research graduating in 2017. Now I live to write and write to live.

Lovely photo, but an ominous cloud. glad the early bushfire is under control.

They are predicting a bad fire season. Perhaps we are lucky having a couple of early ones which they could get under control easily. I’m hoping the prediction is wrong.

Does this mean your summer is going to be unusually dry this year? It’s still October, your Spring, and yet a bush fire. Kind of frightening.

Yes they are predicting a hot, dry summer and a bad season for fires. It is frightening particularly for the states that really suffer from them.

Thanks for the sailboats, Irene. I can take a deep breath and relax when I see your photos.

So glad the fire is back under control, no wonder all creatures great and small are breathing a huge sigh of relief. Such a beautiful, relaxing photo, sharp contrast to the grey, windy, rainy day we are having here right now, but then it is autumn so to be expected! Have a wonderful weekend my friend. Hopefully we can squeeze in a nice, long walk soon… 🙂 ❤

Definitely Sherri. I have only one chapter (I think) left to write of my sequel. I’ve had my head down and it is definitely time to get out for a wander in the countryside though we might choose to wander here if your Autumn weather is turning wet and miserable. Have a great weekend. ❤ 🙂

That’s wonderful my friend 🙂 Keep going, I can’t wait to hear the day when you publish your work. Yes, I think a walk in the spring sunshine is what the doctor ordered as it is very wet at the moment here. Thank you and here’s to a good week ahead…let’s go 😀 ❤ 😛

All done. Yeah…. A long way from publishing but at the moment I’m happy. Yes I hope your week is good also. 🙂 ❤

So happy for you Irene and you are on the right path heading in the right direction, one step at a time 🙂
So far thank you except for a tooth extraction I had last Thursday that turned into a surgical extraction cutting into bone, leaving behind a tip of root, stitches in my mouth and have been on mega painkillers and antibiotics ever since. I’m worried about the pain. It was my worse dentist nightmare come true and I dread going back to see him if this continues. Anyway, hoping it all settles down soon…bet you’re sorry you asked now 😉 But thanks for asking….and I won’t let it stop our walk 🙂 ❤

That sounds horrendous. I hope the pain is easing and the pills working and that no more treatment is required. It is one of the drawbacks to age that I dislike. All the teeth seem to be wearing out, cracking on the slightest hard morsel (crackling which I love has become a danger) and the dentist is ready with his cash register open. So far, unlike you, the treatments have hurt my purse more than my mouth. Hope it improves quickly. 🙂 ❤

Such lovely blue overhead, one almost misses the haze on the horizon. Sounds like the brush fire was tackled early and under control.

Yes and in some ways it gives a some level of safety for the summer ahead. Sadly it was two kids playing.
