Since 1501 BC and 2012 there has been a total of 196 women heads of state worldwide. The number of men is not countable (by me anyway)
A staggering piece of trivia that I learnt whilst researching a debate I am in and I had to pass it on.

Thanks Lita. I have to admit I was surprised at how few women there had been.

Yes I found a list that went back almost forever and I could sit and count them. with the men I could only get lists that took in 20th century, or famous male leaders. My list includes all the queens, figure-head heads of state and prime ministers.😏

New Zealand has done its bit but yes it brought it home to me that it is time to redress. We’ll never catch up but it would be nice to be 50:50 instead of the 29% it currently is worldwide of women in parliamentary seats in single or lower chambers of government. 😊
