Both young and old and their doggy companions all love to cool off by having a dip. Dogs have other ways of cooling off.

or a dig in the wet soil and then extending so that the full body length is touching the cool earth.

After a long hot walk even a shady part of the paving is cooling.

When you don’t want to be cooled a wind will add an extra cooling effect. Although this was taken in the middle of summer the wind and snow on the mountains succeeded in sending the temperatures down.

Psychological cooling sometimes works. Walking through an artificial ice cave (really cool) to an artificial ice flow with real penguins gave the birds the cooling they needed and made us feel cold.

When all else fails- a glass of ice also cools.

The second photo was taken in Tahiti. The water was warm and velvety soft. We weren’t on a cruise but we four girls had gone to celebrate a 40th birthday. It was a lovely break away.

Oh, some of my friends go away with their girlfriends. I haven’t done it. I went to many women’s outing for half a day or a day, but not long trips, yet.

Do I need some cool right now. We’ve been having sweltering weather in Southern California and we don’t have air conditioning. Hard to sleep, hard to work, hard to think. Your photos gave me just the slightest chill – ahhhh. The dogs know how to do it, don’t they.

I hope your heat wave is over. We don’t have too many days when we need air conditioning as our houses are designed to capture any breeze and not heat up. I pity those in Europe with their heat as they aren’t geared up for it and it doesn’t sound as though you are either. The dogs won’t mind if you join them tummy down on the tiles.

Finally, we are having hot weather. It is welcome, since we have had a cold spring. Your pictures help ease some of the discomfort, which always comes during hot days, even though we enjoy the heat! Terrific dog pics!

They made it quite realistic as when we left the cave and were on the artificial ice flow the temperature was significantly colder.

This is really cool…and the dogs know how to make it cool! Very interesting pictures, and I have never heard of an artificial ice cave? But I appreciate the psychological view of it.
My own dogs love digging a hole in the ground or lying flat on the terracotta tiles.

I needed this cooldown! I did not realize that artificial ice caves could work for penguins. Interesting! I really like your up-do in the photo, too!

By the time you got to the real penguins on the artifical ice flow it was as cold as Antarctica where they came from.
