The Blue Mountains are a place of wonderment and from a different point I too looked in wonder (see below) but my biggest cause for wonder was “what were those things that looked like lights shining through a building below those looking in wonder from above?

Great shots, Irene. We had a photo taken at the Three Sisters. How many steps to climb down? I can’t remember.

It is a 1000 foot descent via 998 steps. Did you do it? If you were like me you couldn’t stop your legs shaking by the time you reached the bottom. Coming up was another story.

I don’t remember. I think we went down to a viewing area and had a photo taken with the Three Sisters as backdrop.

Yes there is a shortish walk down to the level of the Three Sisters which takes in a small part of the Giant staircase. I have done it oodles of times in my youth but haven’t done it for years now. I doubt that I could.

I know how it goes. I remember your fall. Has it all healed? I have done some easy hiking with my daughter’s family. I may try a little bit harder one with my hubby and see how I hold up. I could always turn around.

I am all recovered apart from a knee that I didn’t realise had greater injury than just a graze. Still it doesn’t stop me from walking. I haven’t been on a proper hike for years – like you I could just turn round. The idea is to at least start. Race you to the start line Miriam.

LOL. Pretty sure it is safe but there will always be stupid people that push the boundaries and that is what makes me very nervous.

We visited the Blues and the 3 Sisters during our visit years ago. They are really quite beautiful. I think we did a cable car ride down and then a guided night walk to see the creepy crawlies (not my fav!!!). Wonderful choice for the challenge Irene

Thanks Tina. There is the scenic railway that takes you down into the valley and a cablecar that goes across the valley. To my mind both are terrifying. I’d prefer the creepy crawlies to the rides.

They are worth the effort but I haven’t done them since I was younger. I’d probably go down at another point now. The drop is as much but done in stages rather than in one fell swoop.

The lighting in the first shot is great, Irene. I love the expansiveness captured in the second.

Yes I don’t know what that lighting is or if it is just reflection or perhaps they have made a room in the cliff. It is not as big as the Grand Canyon but it gives you a similar feeling.

It has that expansive feeling. The lighting looks like some of those angles photographers work so hard to map out beforehand.

We have a Three sisters in South Africa which appears not be family of these sisters. Next time take a photo from the building with the lights 🙂
