Horizon: Weekly Photo Challenge

I first started doing the weekly photo challenge back in October 2013 and have missed few from that time. Sadly wordpress has decided not to continue their weekly photo challenges which leaves me with a bit of a hole so I have decided that I will start at the beginning and repeat each of the prompts that word press gave. I am also going to either give a link to the original post or when there is only one or two photos, as for this prompt, I will post them here. I think it may be interesting to see whether my photography and creativity has changed in the years that I have been blogging. If you too are missing the photo challenge please feel free to link to my post. If someone else has taken on the role of prompter can someone please let me know.

In October 2013 I posted these two horizon photos.

About Irene Waters 19 Writer Memoirist

I began my working career as a reluctant potato peeler whilst waiting to commence my training as a student nurse. On completion I worked mainly in intensive care/coronary care; finishing my hospital career as clinical nurse educator in intensive care. A life changing period as a resort owner/manager on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu was followed by recovery time as a farmer at Bucca Wauka. Having discovered I was no farmer and vowing never again to own an animal bigger than myself I took on the Barrington General Store. Here we also ran a five star restaurant. Working the shop of a day 7am - 6pm followed by the restaurant until late was surprisingly more stressful than Tanna. On the sale we decided to retire and renovate our house with the help of a builder friend. Now believing we knew everything about building we set to constructing our own house. Just finished a coal mine decided to set up in our backyard. Definitely time to retire we moved to Queensland. I had been writing a manuscript for some time. In the desire to complete this I enrolled in a post grad certificate in creative Industries which I completed 2013. I followed this by doing a Master of Arts by research graduating in 2017. Now I live to write and write to live.

  1. Lovely photos Irene… and I know from experience that early posts have a brand new audience and well worth repeating..

  2. The photo challenge must have repeated some themes. I started in October 2016 (even though I started the blog 4 years prior but didn’t start blogging until 2016). My first post on October 2, 2016 was Nostalgia. I could get a lot more from you. You can’t link the posts anymore. Only May 2018 is there, I couldn’t find anything else, can’t find any ONE Daily Prompt. I made a copy of the 365 prompt in PDF from their library. You may post the prompt from the third Wednesday of June in any year you have, and continue to post it. I miss it also.

  3. I meant to say even though I started in 2016, I had the theme horizon.

  4. Love today’s photos. You can post any photo you want and you have about a million to choose from. I guess what you’re really missing is the chance to link back to the original site?

    • Thanks Sharon. You are too kind. What I miss is being given a prompt – you are right – I could post a photo everyday without any problem but I enjoy the creativity that comes with some of the prompts – making me think how totally different subjects can fit within the one subject. The link back is really useful to see how others have creatively used the prompt. Like seeing the different directions that a writing prompt will take different writers.
