Weekend Coffee Share 31st December 2017

Welcome and come on in for the last coffee of the old year or perhaps the first coffee of the New Year. Being New Year I can also offer champagne, wine or beer or you can stick to the soft stuff like me.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that we were going to a dance to bring in the New Year. Roger was going to come although he wouldn’t dance and I thought that was really sweet of him given that he will sit bored most of the night. However, he has been saved by the weather. My call not his. I hate driving in supercell storms particular when it is the first time going to a place and I don’t know the road well. Instead we will sit at home, have a nice dinner, eat a lot of sweets (because from midnight I am back on a diet) and probably not see the New Year in. We will watch the fireworks from round the world tomorrow morning.

If we were having coffee I’d wish you all

 HAPPY NEW YEAR

and thank you for being part of my blogging world. You are all very appreciated and although I don’t visit as often as I like to I value each and every one of you. I wish for you in the New Year the fulfilment of your dreams and a safe, happy life.

See you in 2018.

Thank you EclecticAli for hosting our coffee shares.

About Irene Waters 19 Writer Memoirist

I began my working career as a reluctant potato peeler whilst waiting to commence my training as a student nurse. On completion I worked mainly in intensive care/coronary care; finishing my hospital career as clinical nurse educator in intensive care. A life changing period as a resort owner/manager on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu was followed by recovery time as a farmer at Bucca Wauka. Having discovered I was no farmer and vowing never again to own an animal bigger than myself I took on the Barrington General Store. Here we also ran a five star restaurant. Working the shop of a day 7am - 6pm followed by the restaurant until late was surprisingly more stressful than Tanna. On the sale we decided to retire and renovate our house with the help of a builder friend. Now believing we knew everything about building we set to constructing our own house. Just finished a coal mine decided to set up in our backyard. Definitely time to retire we moved to Queensland. I had been writing a manuscript for some time. In the desire to complete this I enrolled in a post grad certificate in creative Industries which I completed 2013. I followed this by doing a Master of Arts by research graduating in 2017. Now I live to write and write to live.

  1. We are also staying home tonight, Irene. We traveled back from our holiday destination of Clarens today and Terence is tired after the long drive. I am not a New Year’s fan anyway. Happy New Year to you too.

A supercell storm sounds fantastic right now! It would mean it’s warm and not 7 degrees for a high. 🙂 Agree about not driving in it though! We are staying home as well, we always do. Have a very Happy New Year and wishing you all the best in 2018!

  5. We stayed in and watched TV, a fabulous 2012 Paul Simon concert given in London with about 100,000 of his best friends – heard all the gunshots and a few fireworks in the neighborhood around midnight. It’s now 2018 and so far it’s ho hum. Frankly, I hope it stays this way.

In case you were too warm there down under I can blow some of our 13 F your way.
We were traveling home around 10:30 pm and it was only 7 F, but it got down to 2 F in the wee hours.

I sent some photos to 19@G… did you get them? I think I have three addresses for you 🙂
Best to you and yours, stay safe and healthy and know that others will also be dieting… 😉
