7 Days, 7 Photos Challenge – Day 1

“Seven days. Seven black and white photos of your life. No people. No explanation. Challenge someone new each day”. I was challenged by Rebel Guy.  This is not as easy as it seems. Photos that tell of your life without people is not as easy as it sounds. For those that know me let me know if you think the photo tells of me for those that don’t know me so well let me know what you think I am trying to pass on about my life.

About Irene Waters 19 Writer Memoirist

I began my working career as a reluctant potato peeler whilst waiting to commence my training as a student nurse. On completion I worked mainly in intensive care/coronary care; finishing my hospital career as clinical nurse educator in intensive care. A life changing period as a resort owner/manager on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu was followed by recovery time as a farmer at Bucca Wauka. Having discovered I was no farmer and vowing never again to own an animal bigger than myself I took on the Barrington General Store. Here we also ran a five star restaurant. Working the shop of a day 7am - 6pm followed by the restaurant until late was surprisingly more stressful than Tanna. On the sale we decided to retire and renovate our house with the help of a builder friend. Now believing we knew everything about building we set to constructing our own house. Just finished a coal mine decided to set up in our backyard. Definitely time to retire we moved to Queensland. I had been writing a manuscript for some time. In the desire to complete this I enrolled in a post grad certificate in creative Industries which I completed 2013. I followed this by doing a Master of Arts by research graduating in 2017. Now I live to write and write to live.

First is that your private library? If so, I envy you! Ok…you obviously love books. You have an appreciation for good quality furniture. Are a few of these antique chairs? You like tradition? History? You don’t mind dusting? 🙂 If I am incorrect with everything else, I am sure about one thing…it shows me that you have good taste!

    • Well done on the whole. That is my parents private library. I grew up with books and it was my job to dust the tops of them by blowing and to flick through to ensure there were no silverfish lurking in the pages. Family is important to me. On the table is the family bible and an old dictionary. The chairs – on the right my great grandfather’s pipe chair and in the middle my great grandmothers chair. My great grandfather had the house built moving in in 1901. You are wrong however, I HATE dusting with a passion.
