A magic earth but it is up to us
To nurture as it has nurtured us.
Our globe is warming
Our ice caps melting
The sea is rising
Pacific Islands are at risk
Fire, Flood, Famine
Cyclonic Winds will all increase
Lets change our ways
And protect our Earth.

About Irene Waters 19 Writer Memoirist
I began my working career as a reluctant potato peeler whilst waiting to commence my training as a student nurse. On completion I worked mainly in intensive care/coronary care; finishing my hospital career as clinical nurse educator in intensive care. A life changing period as a resort owner/manager on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu was followed by recovery time as a farmer at Bucca Wauka. Having discovered I was no farmer and vowing never again to own an animal bigger than myself I took on the Barrington General Store. Here we also ran a five star restaurant. Working the shop of a day 7am - 6pm followed by the restaurant until late was surprisingly more stressful than Tanna. On the sale we decided to retire and renovate our house with the help of a builder friend. Now believing we knew everything about building we set to constructing our own house. Just finished a coal mine decided to set up in our backyard. Definitely time to retire we moved to Queensland. I had been writing a manuscript for some time. In the desire to complete this I enrolled in a post grad certificate in creative Industries which I completed 2013. I followed this by doing a Master of Arts by research graduating in 2017. Now I live to write and write to live.
Always amazes me all the places you’ve been. Gorgeous photos of Mother Earth. 🌍 ❤️ Let’s take care of her, shall we?

This should be a book, captions and all, to remind us of what is at risk. You speak so eloquently and the photos are amazing. Well done, Irene, so very well done.

I bet folks don’t know how much thought goes into carefully selecting photos and arranging so they play off each other, allowing you to write a story.
Well, some folks might.

LOL. I just get a buzz out of doing it. I think I do it as much for myself (I find it relaxing) as for anyone else. But I also love people looking at it and commenting also.

Found you via Shari Bonin-Pratt. Incredible photographic/poetic tribute to the earth. The Leaf litter and mushroom compost photo is sumptuous.

I love sharing with you Irene. So much nicer that photographs are being viewed rather than hidden in a box and for places you can’t get to yourself it is wonderful to travel via someone else’s camera. Hope you had a lovely weekend and a great week coming up.

The photo journey is a circle of life and inspiration to heed your words of warning. We should take care of this amazing gift of natural life and all its wonder.

Yes we really should for the sake of the earth and for the sake of the children that are going to follow us.
