Welcome. Come on in and have a cup of coffee or tea. Whatever you prefer. I’ve can offer cappuccino, long black, short black, laté or most other coffee types. In tea I have some smelly teas like English Breakfast and Earl Grey and some nice Fijian tea leaves. Myself I prefer peppermint during the day and chamomile of an evening. If I don’t have either of those I have green tea.
If we were having coffee I’d tell you that I’ve had a good week. I still haven’t finished my thesis but it gets closer daily and I’m not even going to talk about that. Muffin also was declared healed on Tuesday afternoon so she can again play in the park which she did with a vengeance on our first outing back. This I posted for my weekly smile on Wednesday.
If we were having coffee I’d tell you that I found a new place to go dancing on Wednesday morning. Wednesday morning is good for me as Roger plays golf so it doesn’t stop him doing anything. It was a great venue with good music and I really enjoyed the morning. I won’t go every week as it is a long drive from home but probably twice a month. Great exercise and I’m sure it is why I feel much more energised this week compared to last week. It really hypes me up.
If we were having coffee I’d tell you that Thursday was a day of making our dentist’s pocket a little heavier. At 1pm Roger had a crown and at 2-30 I was in the chair also having a crown. These aren’t cheap but I have to admit I’d prefer to pay the money than lose my teeth. Roger followed this with a trip to the doctor to find the results of his shoulder echo. He has two massive tears in the muscle so I now have to be a little less cruel when he complains that I am asking him to do something that is probably quite painful for him.
Friday we hosted an “afternoon delight” for Noosa Federation of the Arts. They are a small group who raise $30,000 over two years to award as a scholarship for a young opera singer. Most use it to gain experience and further training overseas and I think it is a great cause as our government does not offer lots of funding for the arts. It would be a sad world if we didn’t have literature, art and music.
The next Dame Joan Sutherland award is being judged and awarded during the 2016 Noosa long weekend. The organiser of this event spoke to us and told us some highlights of his career organising events in Western Australia and his eight years with this event which brings world acclaimed shows of all genres to Noosa for a week of over eighty events.
If we were having coffee I’d tell you that Friday was also the day the new prompt went out on Times Past Challenge. This time the we are looking at crazes. By writing memoir we can look at the social history so I request that you put what generation you belong to and by also putting a geographical location (country + rural /city) we can look for similarities and differences across the world. The more to join in the more meaningful it becomes. I have to say I am really enjoying reading the entries. Some give me a giggle and others move the heart strings and most bring back more memories of my own.
If we were having coffee I’d tell you that my favourite event was the birthday party we attended this morning for Teddy – a two year old staffy.
What was impressive that Teddy the birthday boy got into a scrap with his best friend, another staffy, over one of his birthday presents (Teddy is a boy who doesn’t like to share) and a young woman who works at the doggy day care flipped them both over onto their backs simultaneously, somehow also holding their muzzles and told them off. When she released them they returned to happy play.
If we were having coffee I’d tell you that I have talked enough about myself and now it is your turn. How has your week been? Have you read any good books or seen any films you’d recommend? How are your projects going and most importantly how is your weather?
Thank you Diana for hosting the coffee share so drop over and say hallo to her and other coffee sharers.
You had a great week! Loved the party pics. I can surely sympathize with the crowns – I had a root canal and a crown done recently and it emptied the bank account!

I sympathise with your root canal. Neither of us needed that as well – I hate to think how much more that would have made it.

Sounds like you’ve had a mixed week, Irene. Dentists and birthday parties. Just as well you didn’t ‘have a bone to pick’ with the dentist. I’m pleased to hear your thesis is progressing. Keep up the great work. I hope this week is good to you too.

Dentists aren’t the frightening torture chambers they once were. In fact pain is a thing of the past – at least with our dentist. I think the dentist loves birthday parties for the extra work they throw his way. Hope you have a good week Norah.

I’m pleased to say I have found a wonderful dentist who is very patient and understands and accommodates her patients’ anxieties. I was never fearful as a child but had some experiences with dentists who had no “bedside” manner as an adult. It took my dentist a while to gain my trust but she’s got it now. She’d better not plan on moving when I’m still around! 🙂

Keeeping my fingers crossed for you that your dentist finds the youth elixir and keeps on keeping on.

She’s pretty young. She won’t even be as old as I am now by the time I bow out. I just have to hope she doesn’t move her practice! Thanks for crossing your fingers! 🙂

You have had a busy week, and it sounds like a fun one! I’m so glad muffin has healed and back to her normal self. Penny had no problems with her surgery except I had to sedate her for a couple days to calm her down because she is so hyper! A first for the vet to do. He thought I was a little off I think, until he was around her for a few hours prior to surgery!
Hope your week is just as busy/fun!

If it was a first for the vet she must be hyper. I wonder about my vets technique but as she is healed fine I’m just happy.
Hope your week is turning out well Deb.

Great to hear that you are dancing! I took ballroom dance lessons ten years ago, and loved every moment! Lack of time (and life) intervened, regrettably. I’d do it again in a flash, but my husband has developed foot problems due to mild diabetes, so it is out for sure now. About fixing crowns—If I could have a dime for every dollar I’ve spent on my teeth…(%#%), but it was worth it. So much better than having them taken out! A dental implant was the most expensive, so avoid that, if you can!

I dread the day I can’t dance so I understand your regret but as you say life intervenes and you just have to go with the punches as well as the good times. I agree – keep your teeth at all costs.

Glad Muffin is better and now have fun again. I have thought abou Times Pass Challenge, but I really don’t have the time to take another blog. We have come a long way with our furfriends. Doggy parties?

You can only do what you have time to do Bettylouise. Yes dogs are no longer relegated to the backyard.

That was a lovely read. Loved that you went dancing on Wednesday, inspired me to do something midweek too. Noosa brings back fond memories of time spent there and around. I recall my neighboring dog garden having b day parties with the dogs all attired aptly even with their little b day hats!

Thanks . Yes it is nice to do something during the week if you have the time. I’m glad you have fond memories of Noosa. It is a lovely place and perhaps dogs are humanised here a little more than most places. Lovely vision of the hats. We didn’t have them.

Sounds like a good week but a busy one—well, good except for those crowns. But at least they’re in now and your teeth are protected! Hope your husband’s injury continues to heal and that you have a good week.

So far so good, except that I managed to have gotten a bit of a cold!

That’s no good. Olive leaf extract is my preferred remedy.

You’ve had a good week except for Roger’s injury which I hope heals quickly.
So good to know you’re supporting local art programs. They never have enough funds, they never get to as many people as need them.

Don’t you hate that when you have typed a comment and it gets lost in cyber space. You never have the energy to do it again and you know you can’t repeat the sheer brilliance of it anyway. One of the good things with Australia is that our art galleries are usually free as with museums and lots of free concerts but funding for the arts is always seen as an unnecessary luxury. I think it is necessary for our humanity.

Your last sentence is spot on – for our humanity.
