I began my working career as a reluctant potato peeler whilst waiting to commence my training as a student nurse. On completion I worked mainly in intensive care/coronary care; finishing my hospital career as clinical nurse educator in intensive care. A life changing period as a resort owner/manager on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu was followed by recovery time as a farmer at Bucca Wauka. Having discovered I was no farmer and vowing never again to own an animal bigger than myself I took on the Barrington General Store. Here we also ran a five star restaurant. Working the shop of a day 7am - 6pm followed by the restaurant until late was surprisingly more stressful than Tanna. On the sale we decided to retire and renovate our house with the help of a builder friend. Now believing we knew everything about building we set to constructing our own house. Just finished a coal mine decided to set up in our backyard. Definitely time to retire we moved to Queensland. I had been writing a manuscript for some time. In the desire to complete this I enrolled in a post grad certificate in creative Industries which I completed 2013. I followed this by doing a Master of Arts by research graduating in 2017. Now I live to write and write to live.

Well now, I wonder which one of these is my favourite 😉 Irene, I’m cracking up!! Fantastic photos and perfect for the challenge. I’m going to try and get a ‘combo’ post out tomorrow to include this theme, but racking my brains. No way can I top this, just wonderful!!:-)

Don’t know what possessed me but glad I’ve given you a good laugh. We all need those. Will keep an eye out for your combo. How’s it going? ❤

I know what you mean Sherri. I have just got part of my work back and feel great about the response but it is too long and I now have to edit to get rid of words and as my supervisor said – usually there is some repetition or extraneous words but so far she hasn’t found any. Entire sections may have to go. But I am happy. Look forward to the day when I again have time. Miss you too.

That’s wonderful news Irene, except for the editing bit. This is exactly what I’m doing with my early chapters, the ones I drafted two years ago. Entire sections cut. Far too long. That is what has been taking my time as I’ve been rewriting them all. And I did have repetition due to the long gaps between the writing and forgetting I had already written certain things! This all sounds very encouraging for you my friend, you’ll get there and your work will be so polished and edited and just where you need it to be. These things can’t be rushed as we both know. We can keep tabs on one another in the mean time 🙂 ❤

Yes it is good to share the process with someone else doing it. Hope you are feeling as though there is daylight on the horizon. 🙂

There is daylight Irene…a thin thread, but it’s there…it’s there! Hope you have a fantastically productive week my friend 🙂 ❤

With my Sister-in-law and her husband leaving this week I don’t think it will be too productive work wise but I don’t mind. I’d prefer to have the time with them – who knows if we will ever see them again. It is such a sad thought so I am going to get my fill of them now.
Hope your week is going well. ❤ 🙂
